The de la Riva guard was created by and made popular by Ricardo de la Riva, but is now is becoming a unique BJJ Guard system in itself. The de la Riva guard gives you a VERY high level control over your opponent, due to the “wrapping” of the leg, which shuts down your opponents structure starting at the knee. This makes passing the guard difficult. The de la Riva guard creates opportunies that allows you to attack with: sweeps, back takes, chokes, armlocks and leglocks. The de la Riva guard also is a viable self-defense technique, especially when your opponent is standing and you are grounded. The de la Riva guard is mostly used against standing opponents , which is very common from a self-defense perspective.

The legislation primarily enables Japan to exercise the right to collective self-defense, or come to the aid of an ally under attack. But the drastic change is considered controversial and face opposition and criticims from its own citizens and nations around the world as it gives Tokyo the green light for pre-emptive attacks if necessary. ST. LOUIS — A would-be robber is dead after his plan to hold-up a St. Louis 7-Eleven backfired quite spectacularly. An unidentified store clerk was on her smoke break when Derrell Mayes threatened her with a gun, according to the St. Louis Dispatch. The clerk pulled out her own weapon and there was an exchange of gunfire. She took two slugs to the leg but came off the better as Mayes was shot dead with bullets to the leg, arm and chest.
