Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Guided Missile Destroyer Chōkai ( DDG 176 )

Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Guided Missile Destroyer Chōkai ( DDG 176 ) JS Chōkai (DDG-176) is a Kongō-class guided missile destroyer in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). Chōkai was named for Mount Chōkai. She was laid down by IHI Corporation in Tokyo on May 29, 1995, launched on August 27, 1996; and commissioned on March 20, 1998. The Kongo Class guided missile destroyers were built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and IHI Corporation for the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF). The destroyer is a modified version of the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke Class destroyer. The Escort Flotillas of JMSDF operate four vessels. The Kongo Class is preceded by Hatakaze Class and succeeded by Atago Class destroyers. The JMSDF built and commissioned four destroyers between 1990 and 1998. The keel for the lead vessel in class, JDS Kongo (DDG-173), was laid in May 1990. It was launched in September 1991 and commissioned in March 1993. JDS Kirishima (DDG-174) was laid down in April 1992, launched in August 1993 and commissioned in March 1995. JDS Myoko (DDG-175) was laid down in April 1993, launched in October 1994 and commissioned in March 1996. The last vessel of class, JDS Chokai (DDG-176), was laid down in May 1995. Chokai was launched in August 1996 for the commissioning in March 1998. Kongo Class destroyer design Based on the Arleigh Burke Class destroyer, the design of Kongo Class features a vertical mast and a bridge with sleek sides. The superstructure prevailed by the SPY-1 phased arrays incorporates stealth features to reduce radar cross section. The vessel is larger than traditional destroyers, featuring a longer helicopter deck aft than the Arleigh Burke Class destroyer. The deeper draught of the destroyer limits its capabilities to conduct operations in littoral environments. The Kongo Class has a length of 161m, beam of 21m and draft of 6.2m. The full load displacement of the ship is 9,500t. The destroyer can accommodate a crew of 300. Command and control The Kongo Class destroyers were the first vessels to be equipped with the Aegis combat system (ACS) after the US Navy warships. “The Kongo destroyer is a modified version of the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke Class.” The system integrates an advanced command and control system, and a weapons control system (WCS). The high-performance phased array radar system combined with powerful computers can search, detect and track over 200 targets simultaneously. In July 2005, Lockheed Martin received a $124m contract under a foreign military sales (FMS) programme to supply the Aegis ballistic missile defence (BMD) system for four Kongo Class destroyers. Three destroyers were successfully modified with the Aegis BMD system. The system integration is expected to be complete by the end of 2010. Kongo Class missiles The destroyer is armed with the RIM-66 SM-2MR block II surface-to-air missiles and the RGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles. The mk41 strike length vertical-launching system (VLS) can carry a total of 90 SM-2MR missiles, of which, 21 missiles are housed in the bow cells and 61 missiles in the aft cells of the VLS. Guns The main gun fitted is a 127mm / 54-calibre Oto-Breda compact gun. The gun can fire 40 rounds a minute within a range of 30,000m. There are two 20mm Phalanx close-in weapon systems (CIWS) mounted on the vessel. Torpedoes and ASW rockets Two type 68 triple torpedo tubes are mounted on the destroyers for ASW roles. These tubes can launch six mk46 or Type 73 torpedoes. The ship is also equipped with RUM-139 vertically launched anti-submarine rockets. The RUM-139 rocket is powered by two-stage solid rocket fuel engines. “The JMSDF built and commissioned four Kongo destroyers between 1990 and 1998.” Helicopter system Kongo Class destroyers have a large aft flight deck to accommodate two ASW or patrol helicopters, but no helicopter hangar and support equipment is provided on these ships. Radars and sensors The sensor suite includes an SPY-1D air search radar, an OPS-28 surface search radar and a missile director radar. The sonar is an OQS-102 bow-mounted low-frequency sonar. There is a NOLQ-2 intercept or jammer fitted on the destroyer. Propulsion Kongo Class destroyers are equipped with a combined gas and gas (COGAG) propulsion system. Four Ishikawajima Harima / General Electric LM2500 gas turbines driving two shafts develop a power output of 75MW. The propulsion system provides a maximum speed of 30kt. Share

Driver SHOT and KILLED gunman in self-defense, Chicago gas station

VIDEO: Man kills gunman in shootout at Illinois gas station. Ronald Morales was shot multiple times at a BP gas station at 7450 W. Grand Ave., Elmwood Park. The shocking moment a driver shot and killed a gunman who marched up to his car after they ‘made eye contact’ at a gas station – but police say he WON’T be charged Surveillance footage captured a man killing a gunman in a shootout On April 8, Ronald Morales spotted a man pumping gas at a BP station in Illinois The 43-year-old walked over to the vehicle and threatened the driver with a gun The driver stepped out of his car, with his own gun, and they exchanged bullets Morales ran off and later died from his injuries, and the driver sped off Police say the man acted in self defense and will not be charged The shocking moment a man shot and killed a gunman in a shootout has been captured on surveillance video – and police say he won’t be charged. A motorist pulled out a gun when Ronald Morales, 43, approached his car at a gas station in Elmwood Park, Illinois. The men shot at each other multiple times in broad daylight before Morales ran away and the driver sped off. Morales eventually died from his injuries – but police say they won’t be charging the man who killed him because he was acting in self defense. Police say on April 8, at 4:52pm, Ronald Morales (seen in red jacket) made eye contact with a man pumping gas at BP gas station in Elmwood Park, Illinois Morales exited the convenience store and approached the man, who by then was back in his vehicle Morales threatened the driver with his gun before the man stepped out with his own firearm, and the two exchanged bullets for about five seconds Police say on April 8, at 4:52pm, Morales made eye contact with a man who was pumping gas into his vehicle. Morales exited the convenience store at the BP gas station on Grand Avenue in Elmwood Park. He walked over to the car and pulled out his gun. By then, the man who had been pumping gas was back in his vehicle. Morales opened the passenger door of the car and then closed it before speaking to the man inside through the window. The man felt he was in danger, according to police, and exited his vehicle armed with his own gun – and the two exchanged gunfire. After about five seconds, Morales ran away, but not before he was hit with bullets, and the other man sped off. Morales eventually ran away, and the driver sped off, but he was shot too many times and eventually died from his wounds Police say they won’t be charging the man who shot Morales because he was acting in self defense At the time, police credited the gas station’s ‘state-of-the art camera system’ with providing them clear footage of the afternoon of the shootout. They say this allowed them to to quickly corroborate information gathered from eyewitnesses, the man who survived the shootout and the vehicle occupants. Police say that because the man was acting in self defense, they won’t be pressing charges.

Spitting and Biting for Self Defense (Effective or Not?)

Get a free self defense video: ► https://www.codereddefense.com/newsletter Is spitting and biting effective for self defense? That’s a great question that we answered today. First off, spitting might be a little bit difficult to pull off in a life threatening situation since your mouth might come dry due to the adrenaline and fear. You might be able to pull it off against an opponent during an argument with someone, if it’s a something that you set up. If you really want to do it, you can use spiting as a distraction, to immediately capitalize on the opportunity and continue on with your strikes to finish the threat. In self defense, it’s important to always try to defuse a situation. However, if you feel that it’s not going to be working and your instincts tell you that you might be in danger, it means that it’s time to take action. Concerning biting, it can be useful to use in a street altercation. If you are stuck in a restrained or awkward position and that’s the only option that you’ve got, spiting might come in handy. You have to be cautious though when it comes to biting, because you don’t really know what disease the person might have. What can be used instead of biting is growling. By growling, you send a strong message to your attacker and it kinds of simulates a bite. The attacker will think that you’ve bit him and might let go of you. We hope that you enjoyed these self defense tips. Thanks for watching, feel free to leave us a comment, It’s always a pleasure to read your comments.
