Some people just dont want to kill. When's the last yall killed anyone? I'd say maybe a 22lr miggt be a "not necessarily lethal" self defense weapon? And learning to handle a gun, how to operate it under stressful circumstances, etc. takes way longer (id imagine) than just having something that'll actually save you at that moment eg. pepperspray, than not having anything at all. Ofc, gun is always superior but before having a gun and the know abouts of guns, something that hurts and incompacitates non lethally or lethally like a knife or pepper spray can be a temporary alternative. Obviously by the countless idiot with guns, getting a gun isnt as easy as makin a sandwich.

It's like ASP says, you need something in-between harsh words and a gun for situations where you're in some danger but lethal force isn't justified.
The thing I hate about these gadgets is that, unlike a can of pepper spray, they ain't obvious and usually look like valubles.
