TheNeverendingGory says:

They really should have practiced the tune more. The drummer and bass
player are all over the place………………just kidding. I bet Scott
doesn’t miss that big ass rig any. Just awesome playing. Thanks for posting
Scott.

David Downs says:

musical magic – one of the best bands you’ve probably never heard of.
Tribal Tech.

sahajagoog says:

oooouuuugggghhh……ampoooonnnnn

Juan Pablo Bustamante Guerrero says:

¡Qué soberbia ejecución!

MeyerG4Indiana says:

I think the bassist has 6 fingers on his right hand. Certainly a musical
force of nature. One of the more easy access songs from Tribal Tech but
still stretches my brain to try and keep up. Great composition. Amazing
execution. 10/10

ofirharlev says:

too much for my brain! O_O’

feralapple says:

Willis’ intonation is incredible.

5four says:

I very much like Kirk’s playing but Heredia is off the charts on this tune.

Adrian Schmidtke says:

Amazing. Every one on stage. Amazing.

Mario Unterköfler says:

Thank you for uploading that one. TT were hot back then, I love Gary’s
compositions so much, never heard Self Defence performed live. I practiced
that one forever. Gary’s fluency and knack for melodic turns is second to
none.

888Xristos says:

How have I never heard of this band until today?!?! The second half of my
life will surely be better 🙂

AndresCruzBass says:

Joey Heredia is awesome but i prefer Kirk

agu monkey says:

First time I heard of them I thought it was some bs world music band. I
don’t really remember how but I got Self Defense, it didn’t left winamp
after literally 3000 consecutive plays. Brain: rewired.

Mikeeltoro says:

Wow. Thanks for posting this bro! Willis sounds great!!

GUITARES ASYLUM says:

A thing we cannot hear there, the guitar sound was really terrific (HUGE
stereo effect at 5.00). VOLUME IS GOOD !!!

shastakeys says:

there are so many interesting connection between these bands after Weather
Report broke up: Scott played guitar for the Zawinul Syndicate, Gary Willis
played with Wayne Shorter for a Tour and i think Scott Kinsey (future
keyboard player, in this vid it s Goldblatt also a great player) was
actually Zawinul’s keyboard tech for a while and sure is massively
influenced by Zawinul

eddegoei says:

Never really understood what happened to Joey, he’s awesome, very original
2, like a cross between drums and percussion, great sound.

visog says:

Drummer is amazing… GW rules as always…

ddrums001 says:

Uh excuse me I meant Joey Heredia! Still a Baddass though!!

subsonic44 says:

Some folks try to prove something by playing at warp 11. I just sat back
and let Mr Willis express himself and it is really enjoyable. I don’t pick
up too much ego, although he would be well within his rights to throw that
out there. Don’t you feel for keys men? They get these new cool sounds and
10 years later it sounds cheesy, even Zawinul had some real winners. Great
clip.

MrSteviedan says:

Electrifying playing from everyone, especially Joey H. There’s a strong
‘Havona’ vibe about the composition.

Roger Mills says:

Great group. I love to watch musicians play who really love what they do.
Bravo. Thanks for the post.

AlessandroFortarel says:

a perfect composition..marvelous solo of Gary Willis

Cambodia69 says:

Samson’s hair. Michael Jackson’s glove, Linus’ blanket. Gary’s hat.

TheMrFunktastic2 says:

@def2008 actually Gary Willis composed this tune

beatamichael says:

I love Gary’s playing but Joey put that beat down hard!

Yeats Goodwin says:

I’m gonna go for the old soul vs style and say I wasn’t really impressed
with GW’s solo. I like him though, and I really like this song and this
whole album, he has a cool taste in notes and his tone is legendary. Jaco
had a greater delicacy about him when playing, and each note in any of his
solos has a purpose and builds to a powerful colorful conclusion. Can’t
help but compare the two since they’re the most two prominant fretless
“fusion”ers around (or were around :P)

guikun23 says:

Tuve la suerte de verlos en Oliverio a mediados de los 90 y no puedo
entender los siguientes cambios (kinsey and covington), escuchando a Scott
con Corea, Zawinul y Coster y este TT con Joey, para mi Henderson
involuciono…. Es una pena….

jamesedwardtheobald says:

‘THE FACE’ – most important aspect of playing any instrument. grimace,
contort, ahhh!

sonofmogh says:

My favorite fretless bass tone of all ( same silver-looking bass from his
REH instructional video ) + phenomenal player, great band, great
composition…

Caio Leonardo says:

Comeu com farinha!

renyer costa says:

in the bas solo whats the compasses , 3/4, 4/4? i cant identify

Marco Castillo says:

My life just start to be better when I first hear Scott Henderson in 89!

adburger says:

Love it Scott! Thanks for posting these.

Roger Mills says:

I agree with you. My ten year old son loves “One of a Kind”. Especially
“Sahara of Snow”. 🙂

jazzguitar02 says:

Hello my friend. Joey is a wonderful drummer but the drummer who played
with Michael Camilo and Anthony Jackson I think it was Horacio Hermandez
:El Negro` From Cuba.

jamesedwardtheobald says:

the drumming is just sick…

jazzguitar02 says:

@MrBertiep Don’t worry Bertiep .:0) One of my favorite concerts of Tribal
Tech was their concert in Chile where Joey played with them. It was
Amaizing!!!!

MrBertiep says:

Joey was awesome. I believe he joined Michael Camillo trio with Anthony
Jackson soon after this. He’s featured in the latin jazz documentary Calle
54.

SuperCocksuckinggoog says:

Jaco lives on thru Gary Willis.

Stewart Gartland says:

Absolutely awesome. Amazing playing all round and top soloing, great fusion!
