Didnt even know crosfiters were trying to get into the self defense market now.
Damn, that's all kinds of stupid.

David Spennachio says:

What about Cadio Kick boxing? I heard on the Internet it was bad ass… lol

Ian Carey says:

I get what you're saying and Hover speaking to the reversal of the example set for instructions kind of proves CrossFit Self Defense would work for the target audience, crossfitters. If you were trying to teach a good fighter who never did wall balls or cleans, you would find that the muscle stimulation sequence could be perceived as similar movement. CrossFit Self Defense is niche on it's own, trying to bring receptive people into the combative training rhelm, from that niche group on it's own. As a result, they use training terminology for their target audience.

I don't think it's dishonest, just diverse.

You hear that all Crossfit and Blauer self defense fanboy? Get your fact straight. You better find a real SD instructor not that Blauer guy, his technique called "Spear System" WTF is that? That's a long guard in MT and you can modify it in the street for SD.

Princess Narnia The Maine Coon says:

Crossfit is a cult!

Murica 1776 says:

I’ve always held that crossfit is basically a bunch of hipsters chugging down pre-workout by the gallon, but SPEAR etc is a great program.

The thing is that you are supposed to mix those with other styles of fighting and defensive tactics. So even if you are doing this crossfit/deftac thing (no, i have never heard of it or trained in it) you’re probably mixing it with other fighting styles.

If you only focus on one or two martial arts or one fighting style, you’re not doing yourself any favors. It’s a tool for your belt.

Martin Hardi says:

I startet doing Karate 28 years ago and doing CrossFit for two years. I totally agree, CrossFit helps in your sport to get Stronger, more flexible and persevering, but wall balls for self defense is BS. As you said, it helps your sport …

Best bet would be, make a workout with Wall Balls vs. your opponent, the he maybe is destroyed afterwards.

Huzaifa Riaz says:

You always keep muscles tense when working out and loose while striking, that cross fit combative guy has confused ideas.

Matthew Wilson says:

Have to call it like you see it, gentlemen. Truth be told, seems like just going through the motion of a properly thrown punch should have told them that something's not quite right there. Haven't seen the video though, so maybe it was people with no prior training?

wushu mart says:

im a crossfiter… hell yeah im agree with this video

William Wood says:

Crossfit is for bitches.

William Knight says:

I feel this statement is correct but some cross fit gyms actually fight train and do cross fit as well.. Paducah KY 42001 is an example.

Intus Facultas says:

Fuck the CrossFit nonsense video, I’d love to hear what Ryan has to say about Tony Blauer’s stuff because this is the first time to my recollection he mentions it and I’ve always wondered whether he was aware of it.

1630revelloak says:

If the method of application is wrong, wouldn't that mean if one of these cross-fit defenders tries to execute a move, it would have less effect or worse case, be ineffective? you can't call it self-defense if you can't use it to defend yourself. That and on a personal note "fucking cross-fit again!"

Gabriel Vaca says:

Gran vídeo, el CrossFit es un negocio pasajero, lamentable que los que no saben que hacer con sus Box empiecen a inventar y a estafar a las personas.

jmmurdy says:

Nice video. There is word for taking a movement from a sport and making it an exercise??? But you can only do that for certain movements and you have to be extremely careful in doing it. NLP thing was dead on. Squats and wall ball have nothing to do with punching mechanics.
