In Ireland, we've carried walking Sticks for centuries. If I'm out walking the dog, I carry a 3ft blackthorn Bata /shillelagh combined with a 400 Lumens Fenix TK15. Slight crenellation, strobe and supreme fist load. Brought both to bear on a defence with a backyard invading junkie about 2 months back. A female family member's houseThe stick had his complete attention. I never gave him sight of the torch as he didn't step in to attack (he did tell me I'd hurt my soul should I follow through on my promise to break his arms and legs if He moved off while we waited for the cops!!).
I bring the Fenix, on a holster, into most urban environments. Banks, shops, but never ever pubs. I also picked up an Unbreakable Umbrella for when I'm out walking late at night without the dog in rural town environments or during day commutes into Dublin City centre. Very very effective, very strong as an umbrella and very stealthy. I did a lot of research on legal below the radar weapons before I committed. When I attempted to contribute same on an Irish self-defense forum, I was banned by martial arts experts and their fawning non-expert fans. They don't like s non-trained Street fighter telling them that with these 2 tools, they'd kick their ex Irish army bouncer arses up and down the street. The false confidence people have in martial arts is shocking.
@hard2hurt prove it! Demonstrate with volunteers that a flashlight will prevent someone from fighting through it. Just like you see with military pepper spray drills. Let’s see a video of flashlight vs pepperspray. Daytime and nighttime. As a flashlight enthusiast and a BJJ practitioner I doubt it. But love to see you prove me wrong
Of course a knife is a self defense tool. It can be used for many purposes, and that is one purpose. Always amazed how people believe a gun can be used for self defense but not a knife. The illogic of dummies.
That is a great video.You barely touched on the best part. Legal stuff. Many times even trained people shoot the wrong guy, family member mistaken for burglar. Etc.The flash light announces your presence long before you corner a thief, or long before a policeman shoots at you.If some one is hiding in the back of your car and you walk by and shine a light on them keep right on going, call 911. If you shined a light on the place as you walked up and the bad guy ran away instead of beat you up and ran away, it is a major victory.
