First Great video, second I have a question,
If this weapon is loaded and one in the chamber, will it fire when you
depress the de-cocker? When you demonstrated it, It looked like it went
home pretty strong like with enough energy to fire the weapon.

Ray Fisher says:

I’ve owned the 40 S&W version since 2001. I’ve shot it about 10,000 times.
Never had anything break or wear out. Love the gun. Very accurate. He
did not mention the paddle mag release levers. Thought I would not like
them. Once I got used to them, I would not want a gun without paddles.
Wish I bought the Walther P99 only because I think Walther is cool. I
bought SW99 because it was $100 less then then the P99. The SW99 and P99
are very similar. The P99 mag release paddles are longer. Practice
shooting in double action because you are going to carry it decocked and if
you have never fired it that way. you will not be used to the DA trigger
pull.

Learned a lot! Fell in love with it across the counter; put $100 down, the
rest in two weeks. Never thought I’d enjoy a super-neato weapon other than
machine pistols or Glock 17s. Thanks!

uburton says:

After years of disappointment at the general direction that Walther have
gone since the original P99 (seemingly making their pistols more
Glock-like, sacrificing some of the features of the P99), I’ve just
discovered the SW99 today. Aesthetically, I would have probably kept the
shape of the trigger guard and slide of the original P99 to make it more
recognisable as a descendant, and added a full Picatinny rail, but I’m very
happy to see that there’s something that operates and probably FEELS like
an old P99, but with necessary updates to it.

Good Review mate !

Rented this last night at the range. The trigger break was the most
unpredictable that I’ve ever experienced. The round would discharge
seemingly at times when I would not expect it. Trigger break was not
consistently positioned. Accuracy, was the lowest I’ve ever encountered
with a poly-pistol. The rounds were striking the target with a degree of
randomness that was just not acceptable to me.

I used a 235gr 45ACP round. That certainly added to the total recoil
impulse. However, I used the exact same rounds in the H&K USP 45 that same
session and the HK was its usual accurate self. So, I’d say it was the gun
and not the heavier 235gr round.

I had the SW99 on my short list but after shooting it, I think I’m going to
take it off. There are just better shooters out there in the poly-pistol
category for my money. This gun was really all over the place.

After reading all the comments below, I realize that you don’t understand
what “trigger reset” is. Do yourself a favor and look for it on youtube. It
will help your follow up shots a lot. Cory07ink has good vids on this
aspect of training. Great video otherwise. Thanks.

Amir Niaz says:

Excellent video explaining how the gun works, I love mine and its my
primary sidearm.

Franklin Owen says:

Good review, but you failed to mention my favorite aspect…the short reset
of the trigger! Mine resets at 1/8″ and is ready to shoot again in SA mode.
This is without a doubt, the fastest shooting striker fired polymer framed
40 out there. I like it even better than the much-vaunted Walther PPQ. I
had to train myself to keep the trigger at the rearmost to keep from
shooting strings of three shots when I first shot it. Once familiar…it’s
my favorite, hands down.

I got mine for 400 before tax. 9mm which came with the 3 grips, different
sights, and 2 10 round magazines. Love my sw99

gsg5master says:

Great job! I still like my 2 Walther P99s, perhaps I will buy the SW 99
