John is basically correct in regard to the average "shoulder/leg strength" differential between men, and women. Many of you may have taken exception to this statement. As there are always specific individual exceptions out there, that seem to contradict this claim. And the term "strength" can be highly subjective. The simple fact in regard to this claim seemingly to be held "true", is because a human male's "center of gravity", is in the shoulders. While a female's center of gravity is located in her hips. Which typically lends to an advantage in "power" to the female, when dealing with "shifting loads" on her frame. This is probably due to evolution, and directly related to the act of carrying children, while moving defensively. For men, evolution has lended an advantage in being able to rise from a fully squatted, sitting position (feet FLAT on the ground, with buttocks touching the ankles), for immediate defensive combat. In order to sit like this, an individual's center of gravity MUST be located in the shoulders. And it's also a fact that most women cannot "sit" like this easily, or comfortably, for any given length of time. Ask any woman to try it. Most cannot do it, and tend to fall backwards on their butt. Or if you are a woman, try it. I think you'll be surprised. So it's more about "balance" in regard to this disparity, rather than just "muscle strength."
An old pro wrestler taught me that the lower half of your eyelids are what keeps your eye sockets pressurized. If you bust someone's lower eyelids their eyes will puff and bulge like Rocky Balboa LOL. It's just a matter of breaking the cartilage that keeps them taught.
