I would talk about situational awareness differently. Not as an isolated advice, but as a thing that helps you if you have it. Advising people to be different (aware) from what they are (not ware) is useless without talking about how to get there. In my experience, doing some martial arts for years does this for you because you learn to read some aspects of body language of other people at a glance. I.e., with this kind of sensory training in your background, you have way better chances to automatically notice people who prepare to attack you way before they actually do it.
This video was weird, because you basically streamed together several examples of situational awareness. By being aware of the situation, you can start planning out your reactions. For example, the Knock Out Game is purely recreational violence with no provocation. This is fairly new to the world, so actually one needs to up their situational awareness. There seems to be a rise in protests, riots and looting in the last few years. Another reason to up your situational awareness game. You may be walking to your favorite coffee shop and there just happens to be a protest nearby. Maybe just skip your coffee for the day, or go someplace else. Simply situational awareness would prevent you from entering such situations.
I think Izzo Wing chun has intesresting take on throwing the first punch from the wing chun hand postions. Them both being open and coming out and up to look like you was saying. Hey. Stop. To an attacker. Even though its really an open palm strike with a hand behind to guard or something.
I have said these very things about being aware of your surroundings and "situational awareness". HOWEVER it was always said as a starting point not the single best self defense tool.

This is by far the best situational awareness video on YouTube.
