Revolvers still work so well. A good .357 magnum is devastatingly powerful,
incredibly reliable, and highly accurate. Pretty much the only thing they
give up to automatic handguns is capacity, but with proper shot placement
if 6-8 rounds isn’t enough you need to either run or call in a Marine
detachment for suppressive fire because you are probably in over your head
armed with ANY handgun!

Aubrey Young says:

I carried a revolver for 40 years. I would consider a semi=auto. Gaven
that, whatever weapon you carry, practice, practice, and practice. Be able
to draw and shoot and hit the target. Lastly and just as important,
“Situational Awareness ” If you don’t what is going down, you may be dead.

jris211 says:

what’s up with the gay sound effects and music when he’s reloading?

Perry Kiddo says:

“the definition of an optimist is a guy with a snub nose and a speed strip”
i dont know what to get for CCW.. a snub nose .38 or a glock 26 :/

JayzBeerz says:

sound is horrible

Arief Makmur says:

Good videos, very informative; thanks.

angelo pugliares says:

I’ve had my Taurus model 689 in 357 magnum, for 25 yrs. still works
flawlessly, and like my credit cards, I never leave home without it.

citizen-x says:

Sure, a trained expert could reload a revolver quickly with strips or speed
loaders, but the average man or woman under duress with their hands shaking
and scared, would have a harder time finding the dexterity and mental
clarity to do it, as opposed to a semi auto magazine that is relatively
fool proof, just push it in the slot and rack the slide.

ardvarkkkkk1 says:

+Taelyr Post I have never had a malfunction with a revolver in the last 45
years.

Dave Dopesi says:

Just curious about how many people have ever been in a gunfight where they
needed to reload. Most gunfights are finished in a couple of shots or less.
I think people watch too many movies and/or TV shows if they think they’re
going to be in a gunfight where dozens of rounds are fired. That’s for law
enforcement.

phazeonepro says:

I own a s&w sd40 and a ruger sp101 357, love them both, use horndy critical
defense in both, I get good shoot groups with both and I carry both (not at
the same time). Shot accuracy and training with your firearm is most
important then the type of gun….

STEVE P says:

is it possible to get a Smith and Wesson 625 in .45 ACP with a rubber grip?

MrMuscleBilly says:

@williamED15 He gives out good advice, but yeah he’s got a goofy voice and
he talks real fast too

Taelyr Post says:

The drawbacks of the revolver aren’t in the caliber or bullet options.
Capacity, weight, size and the cylinder gap are the major points which make
it less desirable for daily carry (the topic of the video). The only place
I’ve seen RNFP used is for knocking steel down, and as long as the bullets
are plated, they feed fine in semiautos. Obviously for pistol hunting a
revolver is the prime choice since shooting a deer in the lungs at 50 yards
with a 9mm would be unethical.

electrostatic1 says:

Optimism to a fault to carry a revolver?

A Chaps says:

good thing about the revolver – is when you and the lady friend are at home
and the mean meth guy breaks in. You and him grapple and the gun is knocked
onto the floor. The Miss, who only shot with you once last year, can pick
it up and use it and not have to worry about switches and slides, and bingo
your butt is saved.

tengu190 says:

GIGN still uses MR-73

Arcqueid says:

I love my Dan&Wesson.:)

angelodp18 says:

Who are these guys and have they made any other videos?

laura hartley says:

get a 45 colt if you like 45s

63DW89A says:

The only advantage factor to an auto pistol is capacity. The revolver is
superior in all other categories: accuracy power, reliability, simplicity,
etc. As a civilian, I lack the logistics and tactical support of an
organization behind me. I’m on my own and a pistol failure could kill me. A
revolver is the best option in these conditions. I have autos, but I carry
revolvers because they work, and revolvers can handle extremely deadly
effective ammo in that will jam autos repeatedly.

Rifleman TV says:

Pffft, where does my laser target designator go? Without that I have to
actually get the grid to call for fire. Where is my Night Vision Opic going
to mount?

Taelyr Post says:

A semiauto is easier to load and reload, thinner, often lighter, and lacks
the cylinder gap. I have 7k rounds through my 2 glocks in the last 3 years,
and I can count the failures on one hand. Maybe in 1988 they were more
reliable, but a lot has changed since then. Additionally, powerful isn’t
always better when it comes to handguns, especially since you train to
shoot until the threat is horizontal, so speed matters.

MrMuscleBilly says:

Oh yeah absolutely. I would be hard if not impossible to do that with an
exposed hammer that’s for sure.

trey2099 says:

The only problem with that set up is the fact that whenever he goes to
actuate the weaponlight while firing the revolver, the gases escaping the
cylinder gap would destroy his hand.

William Dunne says:

Can’t stand this guys voice, I agree with the video but he sounds like
chris Farley saying Da Bears

Powerpickle68 says:

Excellent points about revolvers. I love my semi autos but not more than my
trusty revolver. Just like so many things in life, everything has its place
and a wheel gun surely has its place. Time tested, time proven.

UncleSiam says:

Not an issue with shrouded hammers. Also that will rarely happen if you
push the gun forward making fabric taut. Easiest way to disable a semi user
is to grab the gun slide, even if they get one off, this will interfere
with the ejection and refeed., Try grabbing a revolver, you will burn
yourself along with getting shot multiple times.

Marsh Rat says:

I am a wheel-gun person myself…to each their own…but I do have a few
semi-autos.

the HonorablePaladin says:

What revolver is clint shooting

John Rambo says:

That was a slow reload. Even by IDPA SSR standards.

Taelyr Post says:

This is fun. I still stand by what I said: if you are defending yourself
from a human attacker, a semiauto pistol is as good as it gets. For self
defense, bullets come in 2 basic types: FMJ and JHP. WC and SWC are for
shooting paper. Sales are not a good indicator of a firearm’s practicality,
and besides, I haven’t looked at the numbers, but I would be shocked if any
wheelgun outsold glocks in the last decade; if you need something with more
punch than a .45 for daily carry, you need a rifle.

ecollins92 says:

oh i see you visited the antique show. dude, its just a revolver!

63DW89A says:

I’ve got a S&W 625 45 ACP using moon clips that I can reload faster than
others with auto pistols and have done it many times while qualifying
side-by-side as a armed security officer. Have seen the “Never Jam Glocks”
jam often in qualifying. “Power” isn’t what drops men/animals with one
shot; it’s effective bullet design. Have seen mags of JHP’s emptied into
big hogs with no effect, when the 85% meplat RNFP from the S&W 625 drops
’em with one shot. Autos jam with an 85% meplat RNFP.

devonmac95 says:

Another great thing about revolvers is that you dont need a magazine. All
you need to worry about is having the bullets, which makes it much more
effective in certain scenarios

MrMuscleBilly says:

That why you need to get a hammerless or concealed hammer revolver.

63DW89A says:

Interesting but limited view. I own both autos and revolvers. If limited to
2 guns, I’d own one of each. If limited to one, I’d own a revolver.
Revolvers are a 1000 times more versatile than auto pistols, and much more
powerful accurate and reliable. Revolvers can fire any shape bullet,
meaning a much more effective, deadly weapon. Revolvers are still being
made, proof-positive that revolvers are far from outdated, and some models
outsell auto’s as the more practical, versatile weapon.

John Rambo says:

What kind of gun is that full size? Is that a 4″ 66? It’s sweet looking
whatever it is. I want one.

63DW89A says:

The chances of a catastrophic failure are much greater with an auto pistol
as it is a much more complex weapon with many more moving parts than a
revolver. As a matter of fact, in many years of shooting at public ranges,
both myself and watching others, I’ve NEVER seen a revolver fail, but have
watched auto pistols continually fail every day, literally thousands upon
thousands of times. I’d say that for ONE catastrophic revolver failure,
auto pistols fail multiple millions of times.

VicariousReality7 says:

Nor very related to SD but i wonder how much more stable the cylinder pin
and thereby the timing is in a single action revolver compared to one that
swings out

hutch1200 says:

I have .357s in 2,4 &6 inch..along w/my wifes hammerless .38. I do Like My
XDM .40. But wheel guns are what I carry in the safe boxes of our
vehichles. A clean auto w/good ammo will give good service if you can
practice safety mech and slide pull. But in a SD situation a wheelgun is
just too simple to dismiss. I like telling the Mrs, “just point and
squeeze”. And at the range she’s been known to beat me w/better groups!
Sometimes.

MrMuscleBilly says:

I never shot a revolver in .45acp but what you said makes sense. The ammo
was designed for a semi auto handgun so it doesn’t have the flared out rim
on the bottom of the casing.

Henry Meguess says:

I have never had a revolver jam

MrEtmer says:

Clint Eastwood FTW.

BooBooToo says:

That’s what .45 Auto Rim is for.

William Jabines says:

This is a good video for those pistol loving people who carry without
bullet in the chamber. See, once you put bullets in the cylinder of a
revolver, it is ready for firing at all time. I carry a Rossi
38+P/357Magnum…

Handcannon72vet says:

IF YOU NEED a speed loader, I found A speed loader for my 5 shot Taurus
Tracker mod. 425 .41 Mag, If you want the rubber thing from Safariland ok.
(I guess) And, they can cause you to bend the crane or boom on your
revolver. but the speed loader from (5star firearms) They have loaders for
everything From 22 To .50s&w They are the REAL speed loader! They`re
Aluminum, Not Rubber Check um out

steelgila says:

Thanks for sharing this valuable and informative video. Its nice to know
that my wheel guns can hold their own in the age of autos. Now I know how
to use my HKS Speedloader.

63DW89A says:

An excellent handgun bullet, overlooked for self-defense is the RNFP (Round
Nose Flat Point). The RNFP is used as a hunting bullet, and with a large
flat-point (70%+ caliber) is capable of blasting large diameter tunnels
that drop even large animals very quickly due to massive blood loss. Much
more destructive than JHP’s, as the RNFP is designed to kill. RNFP’s jam in
autos which is why the bullet is overlooked but out of hunting revolvers
kill quickly and decisively as intended.
