NDās absolutely terrify me. Iāve never had one, at the range or otherwise, in my life. But itās on my mind a lot. Probably at least once a day I consider how terrible an ND could be, and it always āscares me straightā so I never let my safety consciousness relax.
The DA declined to charge the officer, suspects civil suit was dismissed. Suspectās attorneys attempted to make a big deal out of this officer killing another man three months earlier which may not have worked out so well since that guy, Ronald Chipman, fired most of a rifle magazine at the cops first. Drawing attention to justified shoots doesnāt seem helpful to your client.
Surprising that his admin didnāt do anything about that. He clearly justified himself midway through, but knows he didnāt mean to and doesnāt want to admit it. The video is pretty clear. Sure, the suspect is not a good guy, but like John mentions, that was not a good shoot. I donāt believe my agency would have let that one slide.
If I negligently shot someone id be in jail. Cop shoots someone he gets paid leave
Should he have already had his gun out? I think not. What do yāall think?
…'accidental'. Or opportunistic
Good guys? Cops are not good guys! Shoots people then tries to cover it up by saying he thought he had a gun. Psh

What citizen shooting a perp would get off scott free in similar circumstances?

A shame he got away with it!
After a cop accidentally shoots a person once, they should never carry in the line of duty again… ever.
Cops have to be held to a high standard to maintain the citizens' trust.
