Justified. Put yourselves in the shooter's position: adrenalin is pumping, his life is 50-50 at this point, the perp put his hand in his pocket quickly to grab something……I would've reacted the same way.
reaching for your waist is a threatening gesture, kids need to learn this early so it is second nature. This holds true if you are being wrongly accused, correctly accused, attacked by a criminal, etc, anyone who carries a weapon will recognize the motion and most likely shoot.
"Was it justified?" is not part of the vernacular in Brazil. Different strokes for different folks. If being a criminal was a video game, Brazil would be the "Hard Mode" setting.
In all seriousness though, it's hard to tell how justified it was because to me it looks like he started to pull his weapon out, but saw that the other guy already had the drop on him and only then decided to start putting his hands up…but by then it was a little too late for that!
just do a little training and you will learn that you cant stop decisions quick enough. if someone grabs a gun from their hip, i might shoot them as well
The media in the U.S. are notorious for showing only part of the story. They take incidents similar to this one completely out of context showing only a small clip of the footage (hands up don't shoot) making it appear that an innocent unarmed ___ man was murdered by a racist cop. If they can find a middle school or high school picture of the so-called innocent unarmed victim, they post it all over the news, and social media, and it goes viral. By the time the truth comes out that the guy was actually a career criminal pointing a gun at the cops or fighting the cops and trying to take their weapons, so on and so forth, it's too late. Cities are burned and looted, and innocent white people are being attacked, pulled out of their cars and beaten, etc… The perp who usually has a record of drugs and violent crimes is extoled as some kind of hero in the black community.
