Man claims self-defense in deadly north Phoenix shooting
Officials with the Phoenix Police Department say a man is dead following a shooting at an apartment complex.
The shooting happened on Dec. 27 near 19th Avenue and Northern. According to a statement, officers responded to the scene at around 6:43 p.m. and detained a man who admitted to being involved in a shooting. Officers also found another man, 40-year-old Brian West, who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators learned that West was arguing with a woman when the other man tried to intervene. The argument continued, leading to the shooting.
“The suspect made statements consistent with self-defense and no arrest was made,” Sgt. Brian Bower said.
The investigation is ongoing and police say the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office will review the case for any potential criminal charges.

I saw it here at montelano apts. The guy has a history we watch it all the time as he hits the same girl every other day. When it's repetitive finally someone said something but the guy was a bum wasn't worth shooting could have put hands on him easily. The woman is just as much to blame they both get drunk wasted every night and day screaming at each other and then it gets physical. They both needed serious help.
