Kung Fu Nuns Of The Himalayas Are Teaching Self-Defense To Women

Don’t mess with this sisterhood. A group of Buddhist nuns in the Indian Himalayas were encouraged to learn Kung Fu nearly 10 years ago by the leader of their 1,000-year-old sect. They’re now passing on these skills during a five-day workshop, with grueling 15-hour days, to help women protect themselves from attack. The nuns train the women both on defensive and offensive tactics. Although Buddhist nuns are not traditionally permitted to exercise, these nuns shake off the stereotype — and pass on their skills to other women. Its good for these woman to get a taste of these arts. But, its unrealistic to think that a week of work, is even remotely able to develop working tools, that will be effective if a real attacker / abuser, decides to test their under-developed body, attributes, and skill-sets.

Knowledge is just a small part of ability. Anyone can learn a golf swing… but can you drive a ball as far and accurate as someone like Tiger Woods with it? There are physical attributes that take months or even years, to develop… such as bone, and tissue density.

Its somewhat dangerous, to give a person a false sense of security. But hopefully, they will at least get an understanding of the path… and start to develop the mental discipline, and willpower… needed to survive and thrive, in life.
