K see says:

The less you say the better. "I was in danger of my life. I did what I had to to save myself. I'm located at [tell location]"

Then shut up. Say nothing to the police. Don't help them with their investigation. Just help your defense attorney with your defense in case some smug prosecutor wants to destroy your life for defending yourself.

K see says:

The fact any prosecutor can look at victim's defending themselves, listen to everything after that, and try to ruin someone's life for defending themselves is so bizarre to me. So disgusting.

The Effete says:

Also important to remember that when the police do show up, DO NOT ANSWER any questions without legal council present. Give the cops your name and DOB and then plead the Fifth. Remember, ANYTHING you say WILL be used against you in court. Even in a self-defense situation, you will be presumed to be a suspect, and you do not need to aid the police in their investigation of you.

John E says:

As a current Dispatcher/911 operator, I can definitely say this is spot on. In the first place, when I get your 911 call that you had to defend yourself, I don't even NEED to know how many times you shot, at least not at first. I want to know that you're safe, and how many people were shot. I might need to ask where they were shot (ie, what part of the bod) and are they breathing, conscious etc. But don't tell me you fired "X number of shots". I want to know is the other person still armed. I want to know where your weapon is (because responding officers will want to know) and I will tell you to put the weapon down when the officers arrive. Basically, once I start asking questions, give me the straight-forward answers and DO NOT start volunteering tons of additional information.

Phissith Ottha-Hekenon says:

I rather hang up, dont' want to relive the moment.

Catfoodbob says:

what about if you still have gun out to stay on guard when police arrive, do you immediately put the weapon away, or keep it out.

Collin Rolfes says:

What are your thoughts on applying first aid to the assailant that was shot? Would that hurt the armed victim legally? Would it appear as it is, trying to save the assailant’s life

MEDI says:

Why wouldn’t it be smarter to give more info so that it can be used for defense later

Coram Deo Assembly says:

The irony in all of this is that the law gives the piece of crap who breaks into my home, extremely favorable rights even though everything he’s done is illegal, criminal and meant to cause harm including murder to me or my family! The homeowner is guilty until proven innocent against scum!! Sad culture

A N says:

Grieve can save you some Grief.

Phil Melone says:

I just subscribed

Tee Cee says:

If no witnesses or casings on the ground, just don't even call 911.

secularbelt says:

Have you tried to prosecute someone for self defense?

Michael Edwards says:

I've thought & been told to try everything to evade, defend and escape as much as possible first. If I can keep from being there, get out of there or fight to escape then do so. I can't get hurt if I'm not there, if I leave and bruises or scrapes to get away are not the loss of life. When all else failed, brandish the firearm and use it to defend against loss of life.

darrin gasper says:

One of the most important things to remember when dealing with LE, is that when they say (if, and when they get around to it) "Anything you say can and WILL be used against you". AGAINST, NOT FOR.

philly Fail says:

Our world is not fun

thomas medeiros says:

It’s interesting that he doesn’t not say anything about holding a gun in your hand when the police arrive on the seen? It would not be the first time the person who called 911 was mistaken for the bad guy. Just Saying you might be safer with nothing in your hands. Especially if shots were fired.

Tamika Tilley says:

I'm an instructor and I tell my students remember anything you say can and will be used against you and it includes the 911 tape…once the phone is ringing..it's recording…tell the 911 operator the location, your name, what you are wearing, there was an incident with a firearm and your are the victim and send 2 ambulances…and hang up…they will call back but don't answer it…this is what lawyers taught me

Chris Hansen says:

I can't wait to defend myself from my neighbor.

Reagan Shannon says:

Criminals have all the rights because of socialist democrats loving criminals and hating those of us who love freedom

Dissident Leathermonster says:

I just found this channel randomly recommended. One of my biggest fears is having to defend my home and hurt someone, only to them be put in front of a judge because of some overzealous prosecutor.

Black Dragon Studios says:

So in other words..tell them that I fired my weapon..how many times..who it was at and why..and I will stay out of prison..got it.

Dhi 2667 says:

You mentioned not what to say like if the operator says where were you holding the gun or how many times did you shoot? How should that be answered.

Chief OpOff says:

The "again" NPC linguistic fad is strong with this one.
