Wow, these guys suck. Where I live, guards securing money in transit to armored trucks always have their guns (typically shotguns, sometimes rifles) on the ready (held with both hands, pointing down). Some carry a handgun too as a backup weapon. It's not unusual to see 3 or 4 guards when transferring money from banks, which always have an additional two or three armed guards as bank security. I guess that's why attacks on armored trucks and money in transit is pretty much unheard of. Bank robberies do occur, but these are fairly rare.
I also live near a large commercial complex that houses a bank, a bunch of restaurants and a lot of offices. Security there is pretty hardcore, all the security guards carry automatic rifles (the bank ones only carry shotguns). For malls and other establishments, guards manning entrances are typically armed with handguns and shotguns. Those detailed inside (away from entrances) are often unarmed, but armed ones aren't uncommon.
Hey, I'm South African and have spent a lot time in the East London area. I had a conversation with a cash in transit guard a year ago about empty chamber carry when I noticed the hammer was down on his AK pattern rifle (it was a dashprod). He told me that it's company policy to carry with an empty chamber as a liability reducing measure. These guys unfortunately don't have a choice with how they carry. It's very much reactive rather than proactive.
These security guards are terrible – I hope the owner of that money has learned never to cheap out on security xD

This title is juicy
Why would you do that type of work and not have your weapons chambered? lol
Terrible to watch ! Soo sad… They are not robbers, they are real killers! Hope they'll pay for that…
Someone please kill those animals.
Man South Africa has really gone to shit
Gee what a surprise
How is this subject ever a real debate? We see it over and over again, if your weapon isn't ready NOW, you're probably going to die.
it just boils down to training unfortunately. I live in South Africa and these guys have very entry level if not any training at all. its sad
