Anyone can learn martial arts and benefit from its teaching. Men, women and children can stay active and healthy well into old age because all the disciplines promote a healthy lifestyle. But there are other reasons why many people choose to learn martial arts, afterall it is an activity with many benefits. It can improve your fighting skills, improve discipline, humility, and help to defend yourself against an aggressor. One of the main reasons behind the creation of martial arts was self-defence, and one of the most important skills a person can have is the ability to protect themselves from an attacker. There are hundreds, if not thousands of martial arts styles out there but in this video we have put together a list of five of them we feel are the best, ranking from least effective to most efficient.

Jiu-jitsu! A martial art that is effective ONLY if the opponent doesn't know how to fight. Or if your opponent is old enough to not be able to defend himself old men sick men etc
t´s not just about the MA you´re practicing – it´s more about the way you practice it. It´n not possible to train real-life self-defense but there are ways to do it as realistic as possible (without hurting your training-partners). Generally "combat-sports", like MT, BJJ, MMA, a. s. o. are designed for fighting in regulated circumstances, you got rules, a proper opponent, referees, a. s. o. but can be trained @ full-efficiency, while "martial-arts", like JKD or KM are designed just for self-defence, vs. weapons, multiple attackers, etc. but can´t be trained @ full-force not having any rules, so the best method for pure self-defense is training a martial-art, but incl. "sparring" also, using protection and taking care of your training-partner, like not kicking to the groin, eye-gouching, a. s. o. @ full force.
While wrestling and Ju Jitsu can be very effective in the ring, the big danger in a street attack is that you may have to deal with more than one opponent at a time. It's pointless getting a guy locked up on the ground if his friend or friends are sticking knives in you, Therefore in this situation, you must be able to fight on your feet, keep moving around and be trying to get into a position to sprint away.
Wrestling is the best base a Fighter can have but unfortunately it needs to be taught at an Early age to become efficient at it considering Wrestling isn't taught After High School and Collegiate Wrestlers have already mastered Wrestling otherwise they wouldn't be Wrestling Collegiately

Krav Maga is unfortunately so watered down. Judo wasn't on the list?
