Going into an attack is counterintuitive. I've had years of training xingyi to get used to invading my opponent's space. Good information.

Another great video. Thank you gentlemen! Closing the distance — and you make a great point from 2:15 onward — find his (or her) hands so you can counter punch/take control. I like that elbow strike you mixed in. Great channel

Ok good defence learned that in jkd. Then I watched Tommy Caruthers a jkd instructor and you can do better with one arm than two first you block the move second move eye gouge with the same arm. You have your other arm there ready for the next move but by the time they swing there second punch they are suffering in excruciating pain with a eye jab. Makes perfect sense to me it's one of the best defensive, offensive ways of protecting yourself.

Great advice. In the fight world it is said that "Space Kills". Close with your enemy, and destroy. No matter how strong or what weapons your enemy has, he is not effective if he cannot deploy them. SMOTHER, DIVIDE, DOMINATE.

David Wayne says:

THAT is one of the hardest things for beginners to get over— going INTO an attack instead of backing up– it is counter-intuitive…but necessary!!

This is just the arm version of checking a leg kick. Common knowledge in beginners Krav Maga training and other aggressive combat systems.
