Joe Hanke says:

I carry the critical defense for home protection and critical duty when I'm out 🙂

PedroPablo says:

Two 9mm at home. My son PT92 and my PT111 G2 I bought after selling my 1911. Both loaded with Hornady HP.

james ellis says:

A lot of really bad information here. Liberty and RIP are gimmick rounds. The best performers aren't on the list. Federal HST, Corbon DPX, Speer Gold Dot, or Winchester Ranger are all solid performers that out perform everything on this list.

FknRa says:

most people who have done any actual meat testing would call R.I.P. rounds a ripoff gimmick. It's crap. Go get some HST or Critical Defense/Duty.

Checkmate says:

Sort of elluded to underneath, but missing out on the Speer Gold Dot +P bonded JHP and the Gold Dot +P "short barrel" bonded JHPs.
The 230 gr. .45ACP Gold Dot was my all time favorite .45ACP self defence/lethal confrontation round, as they were fast ( I believe around 1200-1350 FPS!), and mushroom back into a perfectly shaped expansion while not coming apart, as well as retaining the back half of the projectile's original shape and most or all of the round's original mass, making it a hard hitting load!

hulksmash865 says:

Great video!

ThaTank Garner says:

Gold Dot/HST.

E4 Sham Master says:

No Winchester ranger T series ?

chewee2k says:

I saw a ballistics test (video on Youtube) on the Federal Premium Guard Dog that was impressive. I saw another that showed the R.I.P. to be frangible (maybe by design?) that showed the pieces breaking off and not penetrating very deep. Just my 2 cents worth.

Glock2201 says:

As others have mentioned the Federal HST is great ammo. I prefer to use Underwood with the Hornady XTP bullets for SD ammo. You pay for quality rather than fancy packaging.

I noticed you put the American Gunner in there and I carry that in my .40 S+W but it is more of a budget SD ammo. I think there are much better options if you are willing to spend a little more money.

Native Pride says:

I only carry 3 types of jhp. That's hst, pdx1, or critical defense.

PaladinMthe13th says:

Thanks for this informative video

Hawk Eye says:

Hornady critical defense for compact pistols

Be that Beast says:

How about buffalo bore?

Matt Barksdale says:

After just purchasing my first 9mm for defense I was confused on what round to load with. This video helps a lot.

Tactical Empire says:

have you ever shot Triton 9mm +P ammunition sir?

Sandman_was_here says:

I like the Hornady critical defense good solid round and is proven many times over. But I also like to carry Corbon. Right now it's a toss up for which one I like best.

protect your 2nd says:

Speer Gold Dot wasn't even mentioned. It's the choice of many law enforcement agencies so it should at least deserve a mention.

Be True says:

the supply store I go to, everyone recommends the hornaday critical self-defense.

docdreezy says:

Golden saber are inconsistent. Golder saber bonded are good.
