Is 32 ACP Viable for Self Defense?

Is 32 ACP Viable for Self Defense? Is the .30 Carbine still a relevant caliber? Underwood Ammo has some brand spanking new Extreme Cavitator Rounds that showed some really interesting results in the Ballistic Gelatin provided by Dr. Kote. Pushing the enrgy dumps further it seemed that while they did not make as big of a initial wound channel compared to hollow points, they did create a longer wound channel. Really interesting stuff if you like ammo! Please make sure to check them out at www.underwoodammo.com ———————————————————————————– Check out FourGuysGuns.com for more reviews and videos! Stand by, children. This old goat knows how to use all sorts of handguns and rifles. The little .32 is effective with the right load. The Underwood/Lehigh load IS THE RIGHT LOAD!

I also prefer the Underwood/Lehigh load for the .30 Carbine. These "stop the threat" quite well.

End of rant.

Shane Hawkins says:

Only had my 32 a couple days and it's alright so far. Had a few issues with getting it to load the chamber when i racked it, jammed up several different times…idk

bowman321123 says:

Is it relevant? I sure wouldn't want to get hit with it,  just saying.

TheZombieburner says:

Well I carry it's big brother, the .32 H&R, so….. yeah, I'd say it's certainly viable, if you have good placement. These are vastly underrated guns. It's not a .44 magnum, but it will handle the average bad guy about as well as you can reasonably hope for from a handgun.

Moto Anthropology says:

Thanks! I am going to buy a .32

GunCollector007 says:

Definitely still a viable round!

newhuskytwenty says:

French fought German soldiers in trenches during WWI using Ruby pistols chambered in .32 acp with fmj bullets. Anemic only if you use hollow points because you get no expansion and reduced penetration.

Ray Bazzolo says:

Beretta doesn't recommend +P in the tomcat

OspreyKnight says:

My normal carry is a .40 S&W 5 inch monster, but I just bought a cz 70 as a backup because I had one a while ago, sold it and realized sometimes I don't want a beast all the time. Sometimes a .32 is all I need.

Terry Waters says:

Two thumbs way up! I would have liked to see you shoot a 32 FMJ and 32 HP for comparison. And similar comparison for the 30 Carbine.

Juan Idrogo says:

In my hunting days I shot an 8 point deer with my Ruger Blackhawk 30 carbine 7 1/2 in barrel. The bullet went right through in the heart lung area. It ran 20 yards and fell dead.

Lewis says:

No of course not 32 ACP is a pussy round you need a big man's 88 mm flak cannon for self-defense
