A wrist grab defense when someone is trying to pull you somewhere: touch on understanding intent – how to escape the wrist grab and simple follow up moves – hammer fists to front kick A rear bear hug where your arms are trapped: Trap the arms, swing the body weight down, step off, hammer fist to groin. step behind, push off, create space When someone has you backed against a structure and is invading your sphere of influence. – recognizing the threat and responding appropriately. – Touch on the three W’s – windows, wind, wheels. (eyes, breathe, legs) pop the ears, elbow, pin + spin, create distance, escape. ========================================================== Gabby is here to give us more tips for ESCAPING BAD INTENTIONS! If they want to take you somewhere you do not want to go, they have bad intensions! Situational awareness is a great place to start with this, but sometime we aren’t prepared for the unexpected. I am a girl, 24. Last year I was once going from a rave when I was grabbed from behind by a man in complete darkness. There was no one else around. Luckily, it was the underhand grip so my hands were free. My first thought was just “Eyes”. I made my right hand’s fingers to a “claw” (tensed and slightly bent fingers) and threw the hand back and up to where I assumed his face was. It worked. I pocked that man’s eyes, he let go arms from pain and I ran away down the hill from that park to the train station. Nothing bad happened. When I was in the train leaving I still felt my finger being wet from his eye ball. My intuition may have saved my life

P.s. I have being attending kung fu class (southern praying mantis) as a hobby for a couple of years by the time that happened. We never learned that specific technique, but maybe the fact I’ve been practicing a martial art helped to focus in the moment or just helped the spatial intuition, idk

I love how you explain everything so clearly and thoroughly with different situations including mind-set. And your "practice man" is hilarious! I love you both. Thank you so much for this. 💚

I think I would only ever break someone's bones, not to protect myself, but to protect someone else, same for killing. It's so heartbreaking that we live in a world that helpful videos like this have to exist.

.. Don't dress as a victim … Don't wear advertisements on your clothing ,, suggesting a possible weapon to take from you or just a challenge for some .. same with your vehicle … encourages break-in or total theft .. … That WTP logo on the belt could attract attention to a mugger (they all know) that you are carrying a weapon … When in known trouble areas ,, situational awareness X 2 , and have pepper spray in hand … use as soon as feel needed ,, then run ,, and scream , yell .. get noticed …

@renegade9464 says:

I knew that I was gonna have a field day with this when I saw it but It's so much more ridiculous than I imagined

If you want to learn how to defend yourself please take up an actual martial art, or run track, that works too — but not this, please.

Sometimes no matter what you know you avoid situations you are at your most vulnerable point when you're out drinking If you're going to drink invite some friends over and drink at home safest way

@ema8413 says:

In UK self defence tools are illegal, if I had anything at all Id be arrested and he'd go free. Yes UK protects criminals and you can even get sued if a robber gets hurt while robbing your house. Hell, if I had a knife in my bedroom, someone broke in to rob etc and I used the knife for self defence I'd have a charge against me.

Anyway. Our streets are often narrow and public transport is risky. What can a woman do about a creep on a bus or train or narrow street? Your clearly in america and have excessive amount of space, sadly not an option for a lot of us in europe.
