Women self defense in 1947. Producer and director, William Forest Crouch. JUDO JYMNASTICS. Soundies Films, Inc., b&w, 16mm. A Filmcraft production. Rare and …
Classical Jujutsu techniques. Tho many commenters correctly noted that the
techniques would have been likely identified as judo in the US at the time.
A LOT of that stuff was familiar to Me from my own training ( Nintai-ryu
Jujutsu), and much of it could be reasonably effective if well drilled. I
saw a lot of classic waza shown. At the time of this production, would
likely have been MORE effective as most men did not expect ANY resistance
from women to any form of harassment or attack.
No obstante, muchas gracias, Juan Antonio.
The person I told about it was upset about the extract of that video where
the girl kicked his partner’s manhood at 01:11. I explained to him, with a
flash of humor, that self defense was about to apply every solutions, even
the most vicious ones, to save your integrity. Anyway, the fact to kick
your opponent’s balls while he is lying on the floor seems to be a good
solution to cause him some pain before escaping.
While many of the moves are a bit technical, some are really good and I
love the aggression and the fact that she does not need a “uniform”.
P.S. I will NOT wear what he is wearing during the scenario training!
1:04 ouchie, and after that finally some good groin kicks 🙂
I especially like the lady on the weights in the background, looks like
she’s having a lot of fun
Just found this old ladies self defence film from 1947 and just had to
share.
By modern standards it’s kind of quaint with a kind of innocent sexism but
you’ll find most of the techniques demonstrated are the self same killer
moves taught by Fairbairns to the Commandos and SOE only a few years
earlier.
As a person with experience in tai chi chuan, wing chun and jeet kune do, I
don’t understand why so many thumbed down your comment. It’s almost
impossible to fight even a knife in a real life situation. Judo is crap.
If a guy jams a gun in your back and ask for your wallet, give it to him.
But if he jams a gun in your back and says he wants to take you somewhere
else, you can be sure that doing SOMETHING is better than letting him take
you somewhere quiet where he can do whatever he wants with you. And you’ll
be surprised how fast a few simple moves can work. Not the Steven Seagal
stuff. Just simple stuff like what WE Fairbairn taught.
when i think about the time that World War Two had ended they had trained
women in unarmed techniques in both the SOE and OSS and even before then
women were taught these techniques. For what it is worth she seemed to
react naturally to the attacker and she reacted accordingly so this looks
more real then most movie fights.
@kiwitedferny lol Fancy seeing you here. I saw a show on history channel
not to long ago where they had found an old Roman army training book and
there was lots of stuff I had no idea was so old. I was shocked at how much
I recognized from modern wrestling & fighting. I don’t even know that much
about it, I am sure there was more than I could appreciate. Now the real
trick is to see a woman use these moves in a real fight with a man 30%
larger & 50% stronger.(I can say that because I am a girl)
ESTE ES UN MAGNIFICO VIDEO.10 PUNTOS

No shit Sherlock… Krav Maga weren’t even called that before 1948, and
barely known in the world.
This is jujitsu, not krav maga or judo
Never gonna give her up, never gonna let her down…”never gonna run
around, and desert you!” ~guy

Women Self Defense – 1947
Women Self Defense – 1947
Self Defence in 1947 I liked the kick in the balls move.
Judo Chop!… How did the women of the 1940’s defend themselves against
assailants in vests and underpants?
Nice music
Let’s do this!!!
#selfconfidence #selfdefense #martialarts

One person finds this video to be a painful reminder of the time such
tactics were used on him! 😀

gurl, work those heels 😀
I love this video. I’ve never seen a self defense video set to this kind of
music, I am also surprised this was done back then.
Quizas si sean tecnicas aplicables en el mundo real, pero se necesita
ejecutarlas muy bien y a gran velocidad + un nivel de fuerza aceptable.
1:02 Judo chop!
Najman już robi w gacie 😀

The forward throws aren’t amazing, but the heels may have something to do
with that… Darned cool video.
