I will probably get targeted for internet violence for this lol. But I am a veteran here in the US who is bisexual. I didn't act on that stuff until later in life. I went through the military during DADT and came up in the American South. If I dress even slightly gay, the odds that one of these cats around here starts a fight with me goes up substantially. I have even had a knife pulled. I have been fortunate in that these guys have never been a threat to me. While I am do not train combat sports, I am an Olympic lifter and I train kb sport enough to be able to go for pretty long sets (usually 30-60 min sets with a single 16 kg bell). I just hide it with baggier shirts sometimes. Then these guys start aggressing on me and I guess the other gay/bi guys usually let them do it so they aren't used to what comes next. I am still a veteran and can literally lift some of these guys up over my head. I have severe PTSD. Cops don't do anything about it. It's like a joke to them even though it's only a matter of time before somebody who can actually fight better than me does this and I am cooked. I don't feel like going to a combat sports gym just to constantly stay ahead of this like a gay Musashi. The PTSD combined with this is really bad. The police had to fish the knife guy out of the woods. The moral of the story here is that a criminal's idea of what signals weakness may or may not be rational. You don't really know what these people are thinking.
I agree with this video. The image you present to the world matters. You should absolutely have some level of combat training. It lets you walk with an air of confidence because you have the tools to defend yourself. However even if you do know how to fight, there are still people who will try you based on how you look. Getting your physicality on point is an excellent form of self defense because you just simply have to fight less. If a predatory individual sees you but chooses to find an easier victim based off of your physicality alone, that’s an absolute win.
I agree how you look is important, if nothing else you create that seed of doubt that you're not an easy mark or you may be a problem. Predators want easy targets, if they really wanted trouble they know where to find it.
Um you actually said get your face out of the phone 4 times. Situational awareness. The best advice I could give someone about to street fight, as a BJJ black belt learn ground game. You can force them to the ground they can't force you to stay up. With leverage and knowledge of guards how strong they are is not really an issue. A guy at a bar 3 years ago had 100 pounds on me and insisted we fight over a sports hat, I moved to his strong side avoided the punch, triangle choked him down and when he refused to be beaten i lost my temper and heel hooked him. Just finally won the civil trail last year and he has one leg a half inch shorter then the other and a permanent limp.
Yea, I am no Bad A** only 5 11" 185# muscular though high n tight Haircut (former military in the US) I always look around and when in questionable parts of a city or other countries I will sometimes even just stop and back against the wall and just look around. I don't look tough but look I do look like they might get hurt in the process….not an "easy" mark. Never look at a phone, map, or whatever. always looking around.
Use camera to record behind you

Turning around and looking behind you occasionally probably not a bad idea
Can confirm. Im NOT a big guy, I wasn't ever a victim. But I was targeted on more than one occasion.
As a hobby , I hit the weights, got noticably bulkier.
I'm NEVER a target now. I don't act crazy, or talk trash. i definitely don't look like an easy target.
I lived in the city, my head is on a swivel bexuase of that

Wonderfully practical!
I hate it when people take my ass cream.
Walk into the street if followed, no one comes and hits you in the middle of traffic.
I have a wife to protect my head is always on a swivel. Not on my watch mofo. Great video thanks
