Perhaps he thought. I have a gun. Therefore, I can handle anything. Forgetting that he's not the only guy in the world with a gun. Sometimes, a gun gives people a false sense of security.
It isn’t clear to me that the SG even knew there was a second suspect. It is somewhat like an incident some years back where a person was chasing a thief or such in a bib box store now knowing that the thief had an accomplice and the accomplice shot, and I believe killed, the man. Walking into a situation with zero intelligence is fraught with peril. Even cops generally have a 911 call or some level of intelligence when they arrive on scene.
Good points John, Security Guard should have been just a good witness, getting out of his vehicle, and out from cover was a serious error. Property ain't worth it….
🗨🗨 You said on the last one it was the pedestrian's job to take care of a situation so the trained cops wouldn't be responsible for their mistakes & have to pay out 5 million for shooting an unarmed man that had a knife stabbing old women in the face. Remember ⁉️🗨🗨 YOU ARE STILL WRONG FOR THAT COMMENT! 😵💫
after doing several years of security work similar to this after the military, I learned the best rule of thumb is to remember the fundamental mission as simply "observe & report", there is no duty to intervene because you really have no legal authority to do so, unless it's a life threatening situation of course
Tactics, techniques and procedures. John just described why constitutional carry is not a good idea.

Yoooooo John glow-up 😂

He could have just gone around them, locked the bad guys in and called the police.
Lots of "security guards" are boy scouts with guns that couldn't get into the police academy and settled for the next best thing.
The lesson I learned:
Stay away from Houston…
But as a Texan, I already knew that lesson
Risking ur life for other people's crap they left in the car is nuts. Often times bravery is actually stupidity… Glad he made it tho
So when you say they still looking for them but don’t even really try??? John can you ask about this seems like if they don’t ask enough questions?
Learn how to use cover and concealment
Great one as always, John! What in the HH is the security guard wearing – regarding pants. Weird.
Too many dumbys think, I have a strap, I'm good; as opposed to, if I'm going to carry a firearm, I should be skillful in its use.
Hiuston is just a plethora of knowledge, huh John?😂
look great without the beard and lean look
I always treated working as a security guard as being a reliable eyewitness. Make my presence known without putting myself unnecessarily in harms way.
Good points John, Security Guard should have been just a good witness, getting out of his vehicle, and out from cover was a serious error. Property ain't worth it….
Think defense, not offense. Let the cops handle it first.
The company will probably have to pay for his time off through workers’ compensation.
Having a gun doesn't make you Superman.
We are looking for them. Is the police equivalent of "don't call us we'll call you" 😂
So for those not familiar. The only job a security guard is legally obligated to do is the following:
Observe and report.
They are not obligated to engage under any circumstances, including life threatening situations.
Observe and report is their only job legally speaking.

You guys rock. Awesome lesson.
OK John. Time to trim the hair, you are starting to give me that al sharpton vibe!! Not cool. Lol.
