VERDICT WATCH | Apple River Stabbing Trial (Part 9)

In today’s Part 9 we’re on verdict watch, waiting to see if the jury will return a verdict of guilty–with a life sentence for 52-year-old Nicolae Miu–or not guilty based on self-defense, or perhaps a mistrial. On July 30, 2022, Wisconsin-man Nicolae Miu got into a confrontation with several other tubers on the Apple river. He would end up stabbing five people, killing one–17-year-old Isaac Shuman. Miu is now charged with murder, and his trial began this past Monday. He is raising the legal defense of self-defense. Join me LIVE at 11 AM ET! BECOME A LAW OF SELF DEFENSE EXPERT IN ONE DAY! I think the actual stab wounds definitely did not help his case.
They seemed more than self defence and had murderous intent behind them.

@meandsushi says:

He was attacked by a bunch of kids and defended himself but didn’t say anything about it to his group. One of the many weird things this guy did to make this whole thing happen.

@KatrinaDancer says:

I guess I'm gonna need a great team of attorneys because I would defend my pets. My pets are my family!

It will be important to list and discuss all the ways that anyone in the identical threat situation could have averted either the deadly outcome or any verdict other than acquittal for self defense. The initial thoughts on this as presented by Mr Branca in the last part of this video are appreciated.

@gabrielhutchinson4708 says:

Don't conceal the knife and lie after stabbing 5 people. Lesson learned.

@rickytaylor5076 says:

The only surprise about the verdict is that they didn't find him guilty faster. I know it dont make sense but that guy was guilty no matter what if any jury around there got that case. My reasoning? Small town, he has that accent and they say he is Romanian . What do these small town people think? Russian . I would be willing to bet the members of the jury thought hes russian so hes guilty. Its like the movies nothing happens to the popular kids unless somehow its wrong

@rickytaylor5076 says:

Did the video actually start like that, or did they cut the beginning ro just start with the guy walking/running to the teens? If the video was actually turned on to record him. It seems to me that the ones at the guy that was recording started recording to taunt and humiliate that guy. Herd mentality is extremely dangerous, this shouldn't have happened. But them kids got to stop trying to get views and trying to go viral.

@blittle47 says:

I expected a guilty on some of the lesser charges. But to say that he is 100% guilty of everything is insane. It has to be local coverage of demonizing this man for 2 years that tainted the pool. I can't say many of us wouldn't have done the same if we were being gang beat up and pushed back into water by multiple people. Had he not had a knife, who knows if they hadn't continued until he wasn't moving and left to die. Lesson learned I hope for everyone, NEVER TALK WITHOUT AN LAWYER…EVER. The police are not your friends.

@RobMinion says:

Once they got the lesser included charges admitted, I fully expected the jury to split the baby… because… feelings…

Don’t go to Wisconsin

@officialrogueent6836 says:

Of course they did! Smh Justice is dead. So much for self defense

@gary5307 says:

Many years ago I lived in Hudson where the trial was held and make no mistake, Hudson is a border town, a town full of bars where people from Minnesota come to drink, a bedroom community for liberals from the Twin Cities, etc. Even though there are plenty of bars through out Wisconsin, in Hudson there is animosity directed towards people from MN coming across the border to drink and "have fun." So I'm not surprised at the verdict.

Such astute comments here. Very much appreciated. I hated the jury instructions and the judge’s open hostility. “I don’t want to wordsmith!” He rushed the jury instructions at end of day apparently solely because he was tired, impatient, didn’t give a damn. He was AWFUL. The includeds buried the jury. The prosecution gave crap reasoning, and casually toyed with a man’s life with their assertion that Miu went to river with the intention of stabbing. Horrible. And it’s excessive force only if Miu could crystal ball it and know he could safely walk back to his friends with no testosterone.

The music intro is cheesy….
