U.S. Navy’s RIM-116 ROLLING AIRFRAME MISSILE self-defense system! Ultimate TEST LAUNCH COMPILATION!

United States Navy’s RIM-116 ROLLING AIRFRAME MISSILE self-defense system! The ultimate TEST LAUNCH COMPILATION video! We believe this video to contain the most comprehensive compilation of RIM–116 RAM test launches ever! Indeed, it likely includes every RAM launch ever filmed and released by the U.S. Navy – spanning dates from July 18, 2010 until May 9, 2017. Naval vessels featured (in order of appearance) are the USS Freedom (LCS 1), the USS Kearsage (LHD-3), the USS New Orleans (LPD-18), the USS Green Bay ((LPD-20), the USS America (LHA-6), the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), the USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7), and the USS Jackson (LCS-6). Raytheon, the manufacturer of this stunning system, describes it in some detail below: “The RAM™ guided missile weapon system is the world’s most modern ship self-defense weapon and is designed to provide exceptional protection for ships of all sizes. It’s currently deployed on more than 165 ships in eight countries, ranging from 500-ton fast attack craft to 95,000-ton aircraft carriers. It’s a supersonic, lightweight, quick-reaction, fire-and-forget weapon, the RAM system is designed to destroy anti-ship missiles. Requiring no additional direction upon launch, its passive radio frequency and infrared guidance design provide high-firepower capability for engaging multiple threats simultaneously. The missile is continually improved to stay ahead of the ever-evolving threat of anti-ship missiles, helicopters, aircraft and surface craft.” Many thanks for vising our channel. We really hope you enjoyed our latest exceptionally comprehensive compilation video.

They work well. Combine RAM with longer range ESSM and you can get a couple of chances to intercept an incoming missile before it gets close enough to cause damage. Add CIWS for a last ditch defense and offense against some close targets. Upgraded sensors and data sharing helps too. To hit even higher and further out you need interceptors such as SM-3, Aster 30, or Stunner.
