Training Sport Techniques for Self Defense | Sidekicks to the Knee
If you are truly interesting in learning how to defend yourself, you should train in a martial arts style that includes sparring… even if that sparring isn’t an exact replication of realistic or “street” fighting.

I used to throwing flying and normal side kicks to the bag and I was killing it. Then I try it on street and I almost fucked up. It's hurt yes but it's so easy to catch. Even if it hurts the opponent will catch it and then you have problems. Side kick sucks. Keep throwing roundhouse kicks.
Mike, I think you're right- people give kicks way too much credence when the reality is that they are big and slow weapons when compared to one's hands! I know what I'd be doing if I was fighting a guy with a knife (hint: not using my hands.. using my legs to either run away or keep a distance if I can't), but otherwise you have to be good with your hands. Kicks have always been a good mix-up and finisher and I wouldn't ever say that a damn good left right Muay Thai, side thrust kick, and knee stomp aren't part of my arsenal, but to think that they are fight enders in and of themselves is just foolish. Same way thinking a series of jabs would be a fight ender. Great video man!
Everyone knows you have to step right around until you are behind them THEN side kick them in the knee while they are turning to face you, thats the REAL way to end any street fight in seconds. I got a certificate from a 2 day tactical seminar so I know this to be true..
Hey mike. What would be best starting martial art for starting when goal is learning grappling and striking too( mma i guess) for self defence. Also for a complete newbie and weakling. Sadly . And having time for only training one at a time.
0:36 What kind of kick is that? I wanna learn it!!
Merci beaucoup !

Short fighters would be foolish not to train outside squaring with fists

The best self defense is still a well placed pipebomb
Funny I was watching Joe Rogan spinning sidekick and now you talking about it. It's a sign.
4:38 yep
Jesse Enkamp understands bunkai and probably laughs at your primitive methods

What does a sidekick say about me? Southpaw, right footed.
‘The answers no unless it’s yes’. Sir, in my opinion you just summarised fighting/self-defence has a whole.
Dude, please don’t put the word Systema in the same sentence as Krav Maga. Grab ma Krotch is way more effective.
NUTT MILK!!!!!!
my self defense plan is 1 2 left right, double leg, possible body lock (whichever happens first)
