Sam says:

I see security guards at my bank just sitting down and hanging out on their phones all the time and it makes me wince. One was right by the door and didn't even look at me as I can in

Ringo Star says:

If I were a security guard I would try to walk around to stay aleart all it takes is a few seconds for you to have a bad day, when I am parking or going to my car I try to see people in there car, or cars running, or people in the parking lot I also try to park with fewer cars so so I can see if there are any threats near me and I can get in my car and get away

sniperhat1 says:

I never, ever sit with my back to the door and always sit in an aisle seat. And always look at every person in my area. Also have every exit and hard cover mapped in my head. Just pay attention.

wayne tuccin says:

GREAT NEWS, GUYS! THE ACCESS TO GUNS AND SELF DEFENSE HAVE GREATLY IMPROVED IN BRAZIL YESTERDAY! It's not the Constitutional Right we want, yet. But it's a great victory to self defender citizens. Just wait for a lot of CCW footages coming from Brazil. This time, not only by off duty cops, hehehe.

P. w. S. says:

Geeezuzz first guard didn’t need to die second guard was to old lost in a daydream almost asleep standing up…last guy aware and ready bad guy didn’t try. I watch hands, center mass, and I watch eyes. As my employment demands I am continually scanning watching being ready. I train with this skill. A buddy hides a small visible card in a normal setting this is done with my back turned. When I turn around he counts aloud to 15 you should see the card by then and yell the color and position! The goal is to get to 2 then 1! It’s actually a fun time! Try it out Aspers! Oh yea make the cards different sizes and depth of field is important as well. Good luck.

Sven Figueroa says:

Never, never, never be in a position where your back is exposed! Simple.
In a fast food or other restaurant be especially aware of this! And what if your co-worker/partner/friend/wife starts whining about you taking the seat with the full view of the place and venues of approach? Simple: you tell him you’re leaving. Period.
Your life is more important than a combo meal. Do not be stupid, be smart!

big blue says:

Eyes open and scanning 360 degrees but being nonchalant about it. Keep my family in front of me at all times and keep active in my self protection!

rmwtsou says:

Died for what? $2 an hour?

ocripcurrent says:

Keep your head on a swivel! Always be checking out who's in your vicinity.

johnmichael karma says:

Thanks for listening to my Tedd talk.

Sam says:

Whenever I sit in my car waiting somewhere (red light, outside waiting to pick someone up, drive thru) I always look up & at my mirrors every 10 seconds or so.

Jonny Sprague says:

Just like in the woods, every bit of movement in my peripheral gets my attention since becoming an ASP fan. Also my head is on a but more of a swivel than before.

George Twamley says:

I work in security all over the place and I agree with what he says. Keep your phone in your pocket and just be curious about your environment.

Sport Carry says:

I drink coffee….lots of coffee! Okay, seriously, I check my surroundings regularly. I do use my phone, but I will look up and around making sure nothing suspicious is going on. I would say every 30 seconds at a minimum. If I see something that makes me uncomfortable or something I might question, I put my phone away.

Before I get into my car I look around to make sure no one is hanging out nearby waiting to pounce. Same with when I pull in my driveway. I never wear headphones when in public. I always want to hear what is going on. There are definitely places I feel more able to not pay as much attention, but not many public places.

I am not perfect, but I try to do my best to always be aware of my surroundings.

Steve Hatt says:

I’d have double tapped these mother fuckers !!!!!

ZepHead Johnson says:

I generally go through my day, every day, no matter where I am, or what I am doing, in the back of my mind knowing that I may have to escape or defend my life and oftentimes others. Ironically, I was once sitting in my car in a parking lot in a downtown urban area watching an Active Self Protection video on my phone when I noticed a man unknown to me making as though to strike the back of the vehicle with some kind of street sign. Without going into detail, I'll say nothing bad happened that day to me, but I had a friendly reminder to maintain awareness of what's going on in my world.

Edward Jackson says:

even if that 2nd guard was paying attention, there was nothing he could do bec. the perp drew his gun while behind the display. by the time the guard saw him, even if he was looking straight at him, would have bee to late. He needed to be at a different position, and even then people can still take you by surprise.

John Garand says:

I'm honestly not quite sure how I keep myself paying attention. I've always been someone who doesn't play on their phone or get sucked fully into conversations with people. Even when I'm talking to someone I'm looking past them over their shoulders. Hell maybe it's just ADHD or something. One thing that has always stuck with me is a saying: the world is full of mirrors. Car windows, highly polished floors, etc. So you can use those things plus good situational awareness.

Jp03690 says:

For supreme awareness, you must be thoughtless and completely in the moment. Your intuition kicks in.

David Anonymous says:

I do a lot more looking around now than i did 2 years ago. I also wonder how heart broken all these people would be after an EMP
