Three Self Defense Tips for the Elderly/Aging

This video is dedicated to the number of questions I’ve gotten in this area. Being up in age does not mean you’re unable to defend yourself, it just means the game changes. Here are three tips. #selfdefense #situationalawareness #protectyourself If you would like to support the channel in any way https://www.patreon.com/411outdoorsllc

At my age of 76, I figure mobility/flexibility exercises are as important as the few strength exercises I still can do. Given that, I work out different ways every day.

My main equalizer is a wooden kubotan. Occasionally I carry a walking stick, too. My main adversaries are loose or even feral dogs. I also carry biscuits for the latter. I'd rather befriend or distract one than have to bean him!

I appreciate the respectful and caring way you explain things. Everything spot on. 67 yrs old.

So no tips really apart from what people should already know. I would have thought in the USA tip one is carry a firearm. In little old England I rely on a heavy staff and a hopefully loyal couple of dogs.

I'm a people watcher so I'm always aware of whose around me. I'm little gal 5'2" but I stand tall and have a Don't Mess With Me Vibe.
Also, And Most Importantly, I Pray To Father God For Safety.
Yes, my city has it's share of weirdos but I'm way more nervous on the roads. People are crazy drivers! I see someone blow through a red light everyday. You have to always be aware and be ready for anything. Be Safe All And Take Care.
Thank You For A Great Video! 👍

I'm 70 and carry pepper spray. I used against an attacker once and a crazy dog another time.

Awareness, or being aware, is nothing short of having "the awareness mind set" that must be had and taught even at an early age. Please expand on this most important attribute for safety and longevity!

I'm 52 and I see old age in the distance, hopefully long distance. The golden years thus approaches. 😂 Thanks for the video, Daniel. Old age is like wine and cheese it gets better in time. Yeah? 🤣🤣🤣✌️

Thank you. Much appreciated ❤❤

I appreciate the consideration toward elderly ones. I've had a few close calls over the years and now realize that carrying an equalizer is the smart thing to do because of the instability of so many people today.

I have a fish bonker under my car seat 😊

@XYzXyzXYz290 says:

IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO HAVE A PISTOL, AND NOT NEED IT, THAN TO NEED ONE, AND NOT HAVE IT.

I am 69 years old, the truth is I have applied the arts and sciences that I learned shooting Southwest pistol league, working with a gun site instructors, helping as a range safety officers, 15 years plus of private security and PI work. My advantage is I look like an old harmless retired guy, I gray man well I can look like 75 yr. old. On the protection of my family and my self.
In my day I could get a single shot in the 10 ring from the holster in .6-.7 seconds. Now I’m firmly at 1.8 seconds. Depending on the day, I have to work harder on not putting my family in risky situations. I write SOP’s to try to iron out the rough spots of shopping trips. We are no longer in the southern California and firmly retired. I carry for the family, Anytime I leave our compound note I am fairly secure with my location however it was right after the state law changed to permitless carry and I was carrying I went in to a store and,10 minutes after I left one of their employees was shot and kill by a homeless person shoplifting a box of ammo. Since that day I am always carrying even to Church.
As for non weapons a very nice cane it is solid hickory 1.25 “ in diameter it is heavy and will function like a night stick. I prefer stand off weapons like Pepper spray/ bear spray it is legal in most free states and if you live you live in bear country legal to carry in your car. And then there’s always the 2000 # deadly weapon. As for my neighbors it full of retired cops and the locals believe in back hoe don’t tell and what happens in the hills of Tennessee stay in Tennessee until it gets to the Mississippi River.
