for 3 years, the Viet Cong lived in tunnels , 30 ft down as we bombed them, A year after shtf, 99% will be dead, so it will be reasonablly safe to (at night) tend to small plots of peanuts, sprouts and root veggies, Put some duckweed in a nearby pond, plant some jeruselem artichokes and stinging nettles, too.

@EsyuDach says:

Once you get the food buried, move the bike and trailer to a couple of brush pile covered holes that you've prepared for them, Take a wheel from each when you leave. Get into one of your 2 spider holes (15m apart) at night, start tunneling towards each other. you can advance 2 ft each night from each end and discretely dispose of the dirt. Pre bury the anti-rot treated, 2 ft long splits of 4-5" OD logs, so that you can shore up the 12" thick layer of dirt over the tunnel, every 2 ft of forward travel. In 2 weeks, the tunnels will have met . At the halfway point, create a 3x3x7 ft "sleeping chamber". Halfway down each tunnel, create a "turn around" cavity. Keep your "earvalve" earplugs around your neck on a springy metal band, and when in the tunnel, keep the micro 9mm in a shoulder rig Then you can easily handle any dog that is dropped into your tunnel, Put .22lr noise-makers on each of your spiderhole lids,, so you can sleep in peace. Nobody's entering your tunnel, because doing so would be suicide. If you detect dogs or men at one lid, crawl to the other lid and peek out. Once you know what's going on, silent-22 as many of them as you can. Move 5 miles and dig another tunnel. Once every 2 weeks, you can return for a pack full of food from your cashes.

you cant shoot what you aint got with you and you can't get men or animals to WAIT while you go GET "the right gun for the job". So you have to choose the most versatile guns out there. You cant bug-in, within a month, you'll be sniped by day or burned out at night. Dogs will smell your food and hang around your place, alerting humans to your stash. The cities will burn, because of the lack of water in the pipes. You can;t bug out with 4 wheels or use the roads, or do anything but HIDE in daytime, You cant make noise, or show a normal light at night. Doing those things will get you shot. Get an offroad E bike, spare battery for it and 2 solar chargers capable of keeping it running. get a trailer to tow behind it. Pre bury the rice, salt, sugar, koolaid, powdered mile and vinegar at the BOL along with some EMPTY 20 gallon drums. Use the bike and trailer to haul the coconut oil, nut butters, seeds, honey, meds, food supplements, spices that you keep in a small chest freezer, The roads will be full of tire flatteners and ambushes, so you ca'nt use them.

you only need 3. A silenced, shorty AR-15 in 223, with a 22lr conversion unit, trigger job, scope OPTION, free float tube, 60 gr Nosler Partition softpoints in 223 and 60 gr Aguila subsonic 22 ammo. A pocket 9mm, ideally one with a 22lr conversion unit. If you ca'nt find that, then get one that has a close 22lr understudy, like a Kahr CM9 9mm and the Taurus PT22, Get a slencer for the pocket 22lr, ideally a 2.5" long variant, which is sleeved and under chambered, so that the OAL is just 8". Do most of your practicilng with a pocket airsooft and the 22, If you shoot the 9mm, do most of it with a wussy reload, like a 125 gr lrn at 700 fps, so that you dont have to replace the 9mm once per year.
