People always say jiu-jitsu is for pussies but yet have never fought in their entire life or even you know throwing a punch or I guess even fucking trained

@Rottenbruv says:

Whats the plan when your on the ground and 6 of his friends jump in

@iLOVE90s_rap says:

If u start a fight, ur a dickhead, but if you end it

YOUR A HERO!!!!!!

@chazer7800 says:

Judo or greco roman wrestling is best for self defense. You learn how to close distance with someone who wants to hit you, know how to throw someone if they get hands on you, and learn enough to handle yourself if someone gets the fight to the ground. If you depend on bjj for self defense, you are almost always trapped between concrete and someone who wants to attack you; the worst possible place you can be.

@Саламчо says:

Start with taeklondo or karate their you will learn to kick well and strengthen your legs you coud run faster with that and a back kick can end the fight fast plus at least in my taeklondo dojo is full of boxers jiojitcu dudes and whrestling dudes you i can learn from them

@Phanthomas-mv1gq says:

I think the best one to learn is Krav Maga, because it combines the best attributes from most of the fighting styles. Additionally you learn how you defend yourself against striking and stabbing weapons.

@JesseDavis-f2w says:

Never ever run away. It shows your weak, and your attacker will never stop messing with you.

@Goatku2674 says:

Learn how to run really fast

@Likmiknutz says:

Do kickboxing and judo. If you get into a street fight and there are a few people trying to attack you if one gets close you can hip toss and straight back up to defend yourself against the rest an untrained person isn't going to just pop back up after being slammed into the ground hes going to take his time while his buddies fight you then he'll jump back in and kickboxing you just have a wide range of abilities and great distance control you can do muay thai instead add in some clinch work with knees and elbows but in a street fight BJJ sucks 90% of the time the person your fighting has a buddy that won't mind his own business. I've actually gotten into a fight with a guy halfway through his friend jumped in and got a few cheap shots on me when he saw i was kicking his friends ass his friend pushed me told me to wait then turned around and blasted his buddy right in the mouth and told him to stay the hell out of it then we got back to it. The handshake was deserved afterwards.

@CJKshorts-uj1qt says:

Mix Judo and Boxing. Judo has throws, grabbing and basic top submissions (arm bar and such), and Boxing is self explanatory. If you’re purely looking for self defence those are the two I’d recommend.

@ACarpenter89 says:

what if the other guy runs faster or what if you've never practice running?

@MrZZsharka says:

You can’t run away if he can run faster or you are with vulnerable people you want to protect.

@TryingtoTellthetruth says:

What if theres 5 people? In that case i hope you can box

@misterturkturkle says:

Learn one striking art one grappling art. For self defense… Focus on defense. Forget punching. Learn how to shell up, parry, tighten your abdomen with breathing. Forget slammig people. Learn how to sprawl. How to escape. How to change position.
You want to learn how to fight after that? Okay.

@Demetriusana says:

I’m EVERY single clip played in this short, a knife could be pulled out by either party. Also not taking into consideration 2 or more people just cooks any scenario

@RogerHuybrechts-gv5ci says:

Mofos seriously be rationalizing why their activity is 'the best for self defense' and day dreaming about the moment they 'have to use it' like they're gonna have some kind of rockstar moment.

@aag7849 says:

Load of bollocks

@RubenCuadrado-p8q1u says:

Going to the ground is a bad idea only if you're fighting an armed person or more than 1, on a fair one v one fight. A Jiu Jitsu black belt/Judo black belt/Wrestler Etc… Almost all the time gets the victory!

@x2jxalx6 says:

i would argue start with wrestling for takedowns, control, and dominance, then do jiujitsu

@anthonylaw2109 says:

I’d say never be purely a striker or purely a grappler. At my karate dojo we practiced both grappling and striking (admittedly more striking because it’s karate) but I have enough grappling experience so that if I were to get taken to the ground i wouldn’t be defenceless despite me preferring to stay with striking. I’m not saying I’d beat someone who does jujitsu in grappling but I’d probably be able to put up enough of a fight to hopefully find away to get back to my feet and run or go back to striking if I can’t run

@paulperez5194 says:

i honestly think a wrestling boxing would help you lore since with boxing you can end the fight before things kick off and wrestling teaches you that aggression that isnt really there with bjj its never a good idea to be on the ground with someone in a street fight not only can they have a weapon if they have a friend nearby you're just gonna end up getting stomped out the moment you try bjj

@josephbowen4708 says:

I learned jits in case someone took me down, so I could defend myself in that range. Also, because most people don't know how to grapple. People who dismiss grappling don't know how to defend themselves in that range, and when they do so they are just exposing a huge weakness.

@derricksavoie2094 says:

Most people do not know what to do on the ground they swing like they scared

@drewan373 says:

And if you're with your wife and kids?

@JaxonBufkin says:

Best way to win a street fight be one the track team

@monkeyy_52 says:

The best bases are boxing and wrestling. Notice how I said bases, not "if you had to pick two and never do anything else". If you had to pick two and not train anything else, pick muay thai and bjj, those are the non negotiables.

A good base is something that develops the way you learn other martial arts and gives you a skillset that will dominate once you add on the icing on the cake. A boxer can learn to throw in elbows, knees, and check kicks, but a muay thai guy won't have the same elite footwork, punching mechanics, lead hand fighting as a guy who's only focused on boxing. And a wrestler will develop elite grit, conditioning, pressure, and always achieve the dominant position for things like ground and pound, whereas BJJ is the icing on the cake to finish the dominant position and transition to chokes, armbar, or avoid submissions.

@Angelfish_TheGoat says:

80% of fights go to the ground.

@BrendonPost says:

Assuming I'm grabbing you is foolish

@wiellnyan says:

Judo. Just saying, just throw and leave.
