Tyler, with the lighter weight tactical whips I think it's best to only use the tip for strikes. Because of the lightweight it's more likely to whip back and hit you if you're striking with the middle of the whip. Plus if you use 'just the tip' on a lightweight whip it's gonna build up speed and cut the target, just like the tip of a bullwhip when it's 'cracked'.
Also, with the knuckle duster I think you're meant to give it to your attacker to use and hope they brake their own hand ๐๐ป
The boot self-defense thing is supposed to go on your boot sideways, not up-and-down. Therefore, it would destroy bit more of the impact on your foot sideways, so it doesnโt hurt as bad at all. !!! SMH ๐ with actual boots with shoelaces you can put it sideways

The brass knuckle type things are meant to be held with the fingers between the dividers and for most people between their middle and ring fingers. It hurt because you had way too much of it in your palm, though I'm sure it won't be a whole lot more comfortable the other way. The smaller piece acts like a fist pack, similar to holding a bic lighter and the top lip is more meant for stability and small amount of protection for your fist.
