Tennessee Goes All In On Self-Defense

OK Tennessee, you are not messing around. Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses SB 1847, now passed out of the State Senate and headed to the House. If enacted into law, this would permit the use of deadly force in defense of property in certain situations. It would be a major expansion of lethal force rights not only in Tennessee, but very unique on a national level as well. So today, we discuss this bill, what it would do and then leave you with a question, which is: Is This Really a Good Idea? I don't have much in this world. I never asked for anything and everything I have I worked to get it. I will be damned if I am going to let someone take it. Nothing I own is worth your life because that is what it will take to buy it.

@Mr13Wilson says:

This is a freedom that should never had been stripped from us.

@midnitelite7210 says:

Yes. You should be able to defend yourself and your property. I'm very glad they are making this clear.

@Jeff_Nobody says:

We used to hang horse thieves on the spot. Property is all we have of actual value and taking it can ruin lives. I fully support lethal force for any theft including shoplifting. Its gonna be rough for criminals for a while, but criminals will stop stealing and messing around soon enough.

@beckyyoung2173 says:

TN here. You'd have to live here to understand why this is happening.
Stealing here is a way of life.
Everybody hates it, but most do it.
Families teach their kids to steal from birth.
No. I'm not joking. I've seen it time & time again.
Being arrested time & time & time again is a badge of courage,
not something to be embarrassed about.
And they're getting more & more lethal about taking your things.
So, with people getting more violent about theft,
then violence to stop it, is needed.

@madsquishy1983 says:

I live in upper east TN and I support this law 100%. It's disgusting that people can come into someone's house and rob them and get away with it because you can't defend your own property or, even more important, your FAMILY. Cops, especially in small towns with small budgets, very rarely do anything about this kind of thing. Unless you have them on video and not everyone can afford to have cameras set up everywhere. If people know there's a possibility of lethal force being used on them, they're going to think twice about trying to rob or hurt you or your family.

@justintrett9663 says:

TN resident, I support this and more. We need to stop relying on cops and lawyers. We see where that gets law abiding citizens. Nothing wrong with shooting someone in the back. Reality isn’t a John Wayne movie.

@juliacarter8610 says:

Tennessee Legislators should not pass this!

@bphaglund says:

I love this law but you have to use common sense when in certain situations especially trespass situations.

@cameronbernhardy8357 says:

How is this nutty

@chrisanderson9157 says:

The greatest criminal is the government themselves. Property tax is legalized theft. You own nothing unless you're willing to defend it.

@suehelms906 says:

I live in Tennessee and agree, this bill needs to pass. We should have the right to protect our property… especially seniors who can't defend themselves any other way.

@sambush1032 says:

It wasn’t a civil war, look up the definition of civil war.
