I always carry a folding pocket knife and practice taking it out and opening it. Danger can present itself anytime anywhere, the Mom and Dan need better situational awareness
that dog would not have been able to walk away. I would have snapped its legs in half cut it throat and removed its insides. plus the owners. looks like a pit-bull which I wouldn't doubt, I love how many people post pit bulls pictures saying look how friendly they are not killers. fuckem
when I was a kid my friends parents got a Dalmatian. my friend took me to see the dog as we squatted down about 6 feet from its box it lunged and got ahold of my brow line. left some teeth marks but we got away. it was immediately shot in the face by my friends dad.
Yes. Required 4 shots from .40 The term fight like a dog has real meaning. If the first shot or whatever you use to try to stop the attack isn’t enough it can increase attack intensity. I love dogs, but hate terrible owners.
jiu jutsu works best. people underestimate dogs capabilities and vulnerabilities. too easy to focus on their strengths – teeth jaws and speed. kicking throwing and holds are crazy effective. plan on getting bloody and do not underestimate speed nor intent like this Mom and Dad did. They won't do that again. Dog is most vulnerable when airborne and/or locked on his target. Dogs are familiar with wrestling. They often back off when they realize their prey is armed with skills they understand.
My dogs are all good off and on leash. They respond to verbals immediately. The instant they fail a verbal, they are leashed. Off or on leash, people approach way to disrespectfully and uncautiously. At least some ask permission. I rarely grant it and rarely let anyone within dogger's range. My dogs are fine with people and other dogs. I see no reason to risk putting them down just so folk can pretend they are fluffy toys.
BTW, that dog probably thought he was having fun until it turned into a fight he was losing. Kid looked like a fluffy toy and probably squeaked like big fun. Most importantly, that's not the breed nor the dogs' fault. That's the owner's/trainer's fault. Dogs don't develop that way without someone making them that way. A wild dog would not have done that.
Great job parents and bystanders.

Killed a dog with 1 kick cuz it came close to my daughter. Medium sized dog. Papa dont play.
Hope that dog died
Only thing i had to defended my self from was a rabid raccoon that tried to attack me and my dog
That looked like a pit bull. All dog attacks I've seen where by pitbulls.
