Peter Rodger, his father, is the director of UK Jewish Film and is a Jewish man. Li-Chin is Malaysian Chinese. Eliot Rodger is not white: he was half Jewish and half Asian. Again, "Mentally ill Asian Jew suffers break down, kills several people" just doesn't fit the narrative the media wanted to portray. The reason for laws like Stand Your Ground and Castle Laws is because Self-Defense has always been a balance between reasonable vs. unreasonable expectations. Before Stand Your Ground unless someone pointed a gun at you it would be fairly difficult to prove self-defense because he didn't YET use deadly force. As well Castle Laws made it difficult to argue self-defense for stopping an attacker in your own home because you were always assumed to be able to leave, when actual psychology is that people TEND to think of their homes as the final bastion (If you aren't safe at home, you aren't safe anywhere.
