How nice that you have seniors who can bend their knees to slip a punch.

You missed these points
The attacker will have "The element of surprise" and this is a powerful tool ..They are scavengers and look for "vulnerable" people to attack..Because they are also cowards.
The attacker will likely be younger and therefore stronger …As you age, you lose strength and muscle mass. This is a natural part of ageing.
The best way to avoid trouble………………………….Is to avoid it in the first place…… Use your visual skills in a public place, and if you see potential trouble ahead… i.e drunken/drug thugs ahead…. dissolve your ego and find another route…. I know it sucks that you have to do this because of the "Feral generation" that have no respect for elderly seniors. But sadly, this is the real world we live in.
If you are in a public place…Don't wear expensive luxury watches or carry large amounts of cash.

Hello Matt sir, I'm 72, in a few days I'll be 73, a little background, I went through boxing at 16, went into the army, Vietnam era. At 24 went through Hapkido, shotokan, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Power lifted now some 44 years, starting in 1982.
I'm an introvert, beaten up repeatedly in school from kindergarten through Jr. High school. I'm 5'6" and 250 pounds. I've never liked having to fight, I learned self defense to only protect myself and any vulnerable individual I could who was being taken advantage of. At 26 I became a bodyguard ( professional), at 50 I became a pro wrestler. I worked for the premier wrestling folks of the Pacific Northwest, "Portland wrestling "
I've been attacked, full bottles of beer broke over My head, steel chairs repeatedly hot on top of my head/ 11 staples=to 36 sutures, etc…. shot at close range, knifed etc .. and I didn't want any of the violence sir!
I appreciate you teaching the elderly to self defend themselves!
I learn from you sir, I've been subbed for a good while now. I'm humble, gentle But! I can be lethal, I don't want you to think I'm aggressive sir. I'm not!!! I'm defense only, talk and walk my way out of situations if I can.
Thank you sir for my conversing with you.
