Getting in a fight can also have non-legal consequences. If you get in a fight at work, it can easily get you fired, and getting in a fight on campus can easily get you expelled as well.
how often do people call the cops in a street fight or after a fight? and do cops actually take these cases seriously? what would the cop do if someone called him on you because you slapped somebody? I get the feeling the cop would just calm the situation and leave

Eh , my right? I live in iran so if someone attacks you and you punch him in the face , attacker can sue you that you punched him in the face and get free insurance money.
What if I'm a small guy and 3 guys almost twice my size both in terms of height and weight charges at me? The kicking/punching/grappling forces of these guys, especially their combined firepower is beyond overwhelming from my perspective. Could I fight with max power and technique in such a case? Or should I be worrying about the law and let them potentially kill me, if not injure me very badly? I cannot stress one point enough. My regular punches and kicks just may not have enough power to take three guys twice my size down.
I'm no pro in fact I'm weak and even if the law says I have to use the same amount of force I'm going to try to use more. I can't try to retaliate using equal methods only to have them pull out a gun from nowhere and gain the upperhand on me, when I should have used maximum non-lethal force from the start. I recommend everyone else do the same, I don't see how I could be wrong…But I could be. I'd rather face jail than lose my life to some thug because I didn't pull out a knife before they did.
I was attacked so I hit back with reason able force and the police lady involved tried to give me into trouble and I said in the law you are aloud to hit someone back with reasonable force and she was speechless

The way I see it a Black belt, a Gun license, a good criminal defense attorney, and a right state of mind like Bruce Lee then you'll be alright.

self defense is illegal in new york city even if you not an aggressior in protecting yourself you will be charged
