Royce Gracy ones said that he didn't bring real BJJ in the ring since that allows 'dirty' tactics as attacking the groin and Eyes aswell… By far most people that practice boxing or BJJ amateurs. IMO with that in mind you got to ask the question what is better. Lets say, 10 practitioners of each discipline fight each other after a year training. Which group would win the majority of the fights?
Been a big fan of yours for a while. Been training Jiu Jitsu for 4 years and been boxing on and off for years. Keep it up Tony. Learning how to combine boxing with Jiu Jitsu is such great idea. Good luck man.
Ive been punched and thrown, in real fights. Id rather not get punched, anymore. Bein thrown is easy, weeeeee! Boxing is where I started, it was free to learn, short of the heavy bag and some gloves. Tons of boxing how tos. Thats how I learned. Now I watch MMA and learn from them. I offer my crazy Zombieland Training from what I learned, on my channel. Bless ya'll!!
Awesome! I watch your videos all the time! I also train jiu-jitsu! Been training for 5 1/2 years now and it totally changed my life. I also train boxing, muay Tai.
I’ve done jiu jitsu before and it was alright I guess but I’m now doing boxing and in my opinion, it’s good to know both because if someone is gonna start swinging at you, you’ll know what to do and if they take you to the ground, you’ll know what to do.
Iv done kicking and grappling for years and let me tell you …. Grappling wins all day long . I’ll meet you half way a grappler that can box and it’s game over
Another good pro for jujitsu is you can hold back and not escalate a situation. A lot of fights happening between people who already know one another, so they might have been drinking or something, start with pushing or rough houseing. Most boxers will just have punching in their arsenal, but as soon as a punch is thrown the situation will quickly escalate to a more serious level
Boxing, jiu jitsu AND wrestling are the three most important for self defense, then muay thai, after those ones either submission grappling or sambo, and then kyokushin for utilising bare knuckle.
It's kind of a trick question, because this isn't a question about different arts, but rather a question of different ranges.
There are three ranges of hand to hand combat: striking, wrestling and grappling.
Boxing is one of the core striking arts. So core, in fact, that if your punching is not significantly informed by boxing, you probably don't know how to punch.
But similarly, BJJ pretty much encapsulates grappling (groundfighting). If your grappling is not informed by BJJ, you probably don't know how to grapple.
It's like asking what's better, a car or a boat? Depends upon whether you're trying to drive down a road or across the ocean, doesn't it?

Is not Krav Maga the best self defense ?
I think boxing is terrible in a street fight because you should never punch in a street fight, palm strikes or hammer fists would be better
I would say for older guys boxing is perhaps better as the frequent rolling in bjj can be too much to recuperate

Combat jiu jitsu
Tony, you are super cool!
I love your vids, please try MMA next! You don't have to choose pure grappling or pure striking you can mix.
They both compliment each other perfectly.

What about judo and bjj? I was thinking about making judo my main art and cross training in bjj 4 times a month.
In BJJ you can feel full resistance in some positions without getting hurt.
Both are fantastic sports and great self defence im a bjj guy personally🥋
Boxing because only a dummy would want to be on the ground in a street fight
Boxing, Jiujitsu, Mai Thay, wrestling, Sambo, Taekwondo and Judo.
It’s easy to run from a fight but hard to run when u get grabbed
Getting to a solid purple belt would be fantastic then boxing and I think you will be able to defend yourself in just about any situation
Iv done kicking and grappling for years and let me tell you …. Grappling wins all day long . I’ll meet you half way a grappler that can box and it’s game over
if you strong with bjj it's easy to win with 1v1

Just do some MMA
sounds like you are training "sport" jiu jitsu. My instruction in jiu jitsu is all about "street fighting", heavy emphasis on blocking punches
I'm a two stripe white belt 😆 but I know you'll still beat me LOL I do boxing too (with tae Kwon do) but my basic stances are a little off
