An uncle of mine had a negligent discharge once many years ago. He went to clean a rifle. He removed the magazine and thinking the rifle was not loaded, he pulled the trigger while it was pointed at the ceiling and boom!! Hole through the ceiling and through the roof of the house.
My grandmother had a negligent discharge of a 22 rifle when she was young. Her and her sister in law were out hunting rabbits on the farm. They were climbing through a fence and she went to pass the rifle to her sister when she accidentally pulled the trigger and shot her SIL in the leg. That incident haunted her for the rest of her life.
