As bystanders, it is probably NOT a great idea to pass a random altercation in progress. Not that shots were expected, but nowadays they almost ARE expected. Also, to a lesser degree, without shots, you may run over combatants if they start chasing each other around. Not to mention there are numerous 3rd world-like people out and about committing crimes like carjackings out in the open, so this could have been a carjacking in progress. Not worth driving by a situation like this until it is safe to do so.
I have a question for john. I hate to bring up race anytime, but i saw a recent video of an altercation with 2 black men where an out of shape man is getting beat to hell, starts shooting and you say it was a reasonable use of force on the attacker. And that the shooter shouldn't have shot… then this guy gets his little window broken, and his paint scratched and deadly force is reasonable for that… it seems contradictory to me. And this is coming from a huge fan
Ahhh here we are again. The universe has been trying time and time again to teach us little knuckleheads, don't start shit you can't finish. We are learning still universe, just give us a couple more thousand years.
The sedan driver is an idiot and should be charged but I've got no sympathy for the minivan driver. Road raging is stupid, but road raging when you are carrying a gun takes it to a whole new level.
One thing i didnt see mentioned, was the sedan driver wearing a mask? Almost looks like a clown/hallloween mask on as hes running into the camera view.
Dude was not justified in shooting in the first place, he was not "innocent". He contributed to escalating the confrontation, so I would disagree he was justified. The only threat he faced, after contributing to the confrontation, was ordinary force. Making a case against him for aggravated assault would likely be tough which is likely why he was not charged. Basing that opinion on Virginia law, the law might be different in this state.
What if the guy in the sedan punches the window but doesn’t break it, is he still justified for shooting at that point? And would it still be justified for shooting if it is only one attacker coming at you ?
Too many guns in the hands of the wrong people. There’s no doubt the dude in the van was empowered by his weapon. Who knows if this event would have happened at all if not for the gun as moral backup,.
I see tons of this kind of stuff everyday everywhere. Bone heads mixed with anger on the roads. When I drive or ride a motorcycle im in the mindset of a business environment with the job of getting from point A to point B. A lot of people treat the road ways like tehre personal play ground toying with people drinking alcohol venting there rage or texting people. All stuff you dont do while on the job. It seems to help and keep me out of trouble because there is always bone heads that are trying to get a rise out of people and stuff like that escalulate to deadly encounters.

The guy who got shot fell back into the passenger side window and broke it. Doesn't seem to be the bullet.
If it were a cop shooting, would the officer likely be held accountable for the same act of the innocent victim being injured?
