Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tradition rocks! Thnx for the video.

Alexandre Antunes says:

NAO SABIA QUE O SEU MADRUGA ERA MESTRE DE JIU JITSU .LEGAL!!

A Nice Guy says:

I have just become aware of Relson Gracie and his emphasis on bjj for
street self defense as opposed to “sport” fighting. For that reason, I hope
to train at one of his affiliate schools when I start training in bjj. I am
all about self defense, I am not interested in being a mma fighter or a UFC
bad ass. lol

Braveullyses says:

Concerning the legal system and breaking bones…If you are defending
yourself on the street, DO WHATEVER you need to do to save yourself. It is
of great consternation to most that our criminal justice system has
devolved and eroded so terribly, adding insult to injury by means of the
courts. Especially when and where it concerns self protection and self
defense. Keep up the Faith.

madeku says:

@jrdudedj this is a sad but true fact.. that’s why hopefully you A. don’t
know the person. B. don’t report it if possible.. let the asshole have his
fingers broken. he has no ethical or moral reason to sue. should have
behaved himself in the first place. but the courts don’t care about ethics
or morals these days.

madeku says:

im glad to see more self defense stuff from the gracies, rather than just
the sport jiujitsu. i’d be more inclined to do the standing armbar/break
that he did, rather than get on the ground and do the cross body one. still
nice to see

DC Spencer says:

More like thousands of attempts before you get the technique and timing
just right.

kauaiboy44 says:

Relson Gracie Jiu Jitsu!

ad3543 says:

The demonstration is choreographed, because you need to see it in slow
motion. Wrestling moves are demonstrated in the same way. It is nothing
like real time when you move with the speed that comes from constant
practice. Practice that last hours a day for years. Then the moves happens
so fast you can barely see them.

luke b says:

Relson if you r reading this. PLEASE can you do make a school in the
london!!!! Huge fan of this video and how you focus on self defense

bobbygoesbig says:

great stuff, thanks.

tonscordova says:

Thanks for that!

Mider999 says:

Please take your medicaiton, and go back to anger managment. also Id shoot
you in the dick and you’d definatly die before the ambulance got there.

Reed K.S. Topasna says:

Good instructions!

kyu221 says:

So , the point is that the BJJ itself with his core techniques ( ground
tehniques / ne waza ) simply isnt enough good and progressive to provide
some essential self defense training. Its quite dangerous and ridiculous to
grapple on the ground with armed attacker and against multiple attackers it
is suicide to place fight ond the ground ( cause you simply cant grapple 2
or more opponents at the same time ). Therefore, most of techniques in this
clip are not BJJ (at least they arent core BJJ).

George Tavares says:

Thank you, and yes here in America for some reason thieves seem to have
more rights than victims a fact I truly will never understand….You steal
something you should be lucky only a finger was broken.Thank You jrdudedj
for letting people know this !!!

dna1101 says:

What about kicks?

kyu221 says:

No offense, but which of those techniques is bjj? It is ju jutsu, judo and
aikido. Although the bjj itself is nothing more than repacked ju jutsu /
kosen judo. Same can be said for various styles of judo and aikido – they
are nothing more than styles derived from ju jutsu but focused on certain
techniques of it.

Calvert Mma says:

These moves may look “choreographed”, but trust me…they are effective. To
see Relson and other high level Jiu-Jitsu practitioners preform these moves
at full speed is a site to see. If you’re not convinced I urge you to find
a credible GJJ or BJJ academy, find out for yourself and discover how easy,
fun and effective Jiu-Jitsu realy is.

LJSJIUJITSU says:

I really like Relson and his style of “old school” jiujitsu. I remember
hearing stories how he was the bad boy of the Gracie family back in the day
and would actually utilize his jiujitsu in legit situations on the streets
of Rio. I met him at a tournament and he’s very down to earth and super
cool.

jrdudedj says:

So if anyone lives in America, don’t do the armbar or anything to break
bones. Because my little brother broke some mans finger when he was choking
him and the man is trying to sue him, despite sacurity camara catching him
trying to steal his backpack. And these kind of stupid things happen all
the time in America, and it costs money for court. So be careful.

notyranny1 says:

very cool – thank you.

famguyri says:

Thank you, sir

DeVon Carter says:

This’ what I am talking about but I wouldn’t use the arm bar in the street
cuz people can bite your leg

IrishTerrierRules says:

great video!! thanks!!!

JJI6881 says:

@shavanthawee This is the constant argument I hear from non-believers–What
about 2 guys, what about multiple attackers..blah– blah! TRUTH is there is
no effective ways to take on more than one attacker!! If you find yourself
in this situation you should find a way to get away from the
situation–Pure and simple!! Any martial art that claims it can help you
take on more than one person is being irresponsible and will only get YOUR
ass kicked for you

pikonzaso says:

the better way to defend it is to walk with money or valuable things, so
walk completly nacked

ThisIsNotPictureTube2 says:

@jrdudedj sad but true. thanks for the reminder

Mider999 says:

So what happens when you try this against a fat guy? Can you also just pick
him up, or what do you do then?

lsant says:

Is his school in Hawaii now or the Bronx still?

pedro90 says:

@shavanthawee the answer is your crazy to believe you will “defeat
multiples” your at a strong disadvantage so contsant maneavirng until you
can get away- or engage one in the clinch while using ther body from not
allowing others to come too close. This is standard standing self defense
technique for multiples. if you have to stand and fight more then one guy
your probably gonna get taken down and stomped eventually. if you don’t
have weapons, or a way of escape your just gonna stall them.

ad3543 says:

The demonstration is choreographed, because you need to see it in slow
motion. Wrestling moves are demonstrated in the same way. It is nothing
like real time when you move with the speed that comes from constant
practice. Practice that last hours a day for years. Then the moves happen
so fast you can barely see them.

ikcjjtttt says:

that’s a little unfair, because ALL martial arts borrow from their older
predecessors. So all of it is BJJ. Can it be found in other styles? of
course. Are many of those styles far older? of course. but its still BJJ.

Marshall Street says:

These BJJ self-defense techniques show that BJJ isn’t all groundwork. BJJ
came from Judo. While Judo has MORE throws, BJJ still has some basic
throws. When you throw someone to the ground, you can paralyze or kill
someone if they land on their head on the concrete.

ChanceC5 says:

They say you should run away first. That way if you go to court you can say
“Judge I ran away from him but he chased after me.” That way the blame is
on the attacker because he had the option of not starting a confrontation.
