Reality Based Self Defense is FAKE! Get Real!

STOP THE BULLSH!T. Much of RBSD or reality based self defense is actually based on fantasy and not reality. REAL reality self defence is founded on fundamental principles of fighting, not the stuff that’s running rampant on the internet designed to sell DVDs and seminars. It’s time to get real. Honestly, there are different RBSD systems out there. Some are crap, some are actually effective. To lump all of them into the same category is simply ridiculous.

…not a fag, but I just fell in love with a MIC. As a county boy (aroostook, maine) I can see through th……..oops, somebody just kicked my ass ! Shit do done happen fast ol' sticks, play hard or suck hard, you decide.

jamie gutierrez says:

Ha ha love it! Can't fight sleep lol

Micah S says:

I agree with the other commenters. People trying to "out reality" each other to the point where it's unrealistic. They keep trying to reinvent the wheel. People have fought hand to hand for thousands of years. Training frequently in bjj, judo, wrestling and Muay Thai is what it takes then add in some weapon stuff.

Bravo. " Could not fight sleep " – fell outta my chair laughing. Well said. Needed to be said.

Gwilym Roberts says:

You are right. If a situation where a bag was placed over your head and a gun pressed to your back there isn't much you can do about it. Struggling will make it easier for the attacker to want to fire, especially not having to see your face whilst doing it. I believe the only way to defend yourself in that situation is to buy yourself some time, not do anything foolish and wait until you have the moment to try and defend yourself Depending on if the attacker doesn't just shoot straight away that won't work that way. If it's robbery or a kidnapping attempt there's 2 different scenarios, 1) money and objects can be replaced if robbed and hoping that the robber doesn't shoot, aggravating resistance when it's almost impossible is stupid. 2) if it's a kidnapping attempt then most kidnappings don't end so well for the victims, so take your chance when you can because you'll most likely end up dead anyway, so if you're going to die then try to go out fighting which will be your only and probably best chance. Life is a survival game.

Joe Guzman says:

A lot of people give reality based self defense a bad name. A horrible name. That's why schools that are worth their merit don't call their teachings reality based self defense. Good schools teach "combatives", "defensive tactics" and "close quarter combat". Within the teachings you'll find techniques rooted in traditional martial arts but with valid modern applications. A good school will teach you proper movement and physical / physiological conditioning. A good school will teach you rudimentary to advanced knowledge of weapons handling. A good school will drill at full contact, with full speed and multiple opponents.

That's how we tell the difference between Bushido and Bullshido.

vcash holdfast says:

Wtf ? Blah blah..

Intus Facultas says:

Let’s just call it what it is, bullshido. Most of what I’ve seen from Fit to Fight IS reality based. Because what they do is (get this) based on realistic scenarios.

Criticizing some morons on a video where they show someone who looks like they’d get asthma throwing a punch and calling them “reality based” is giving those idiots faaaaar too much credit. The only reality they are basing their training on is virtual reality.

CircaSriYak says:

I'm fucking sick of this retarded fad of trying to "Out-reality" everybody else. You think you're that edgy kid preaching truth to power, when really its been done to fucking death.

I'm just sick of hearing "Yeah kid, that's some awesome skill and solid tactics BUT LET ME TELL YOU WHY YOU DON'T STAND IN A CHANCE IN A "REAL" FIGHT."

Fuck OFF

Prime8Logic says:

I hope everyone who subscribed to this channel realizes that what these instructors teach are methods to deal with real situations and are smart enough to know whats complete trash and what’s actually practical. I like Hoover, but this video was a waste.

Simon Hopkins says:

Ryan Hoover the comedian. I was pmsl at the end.
P'S looking good Amber 🙂

Tyler_ Lalonde- says:

So like this that you just did 2 weeks ago. https://youtu.be/ctFu0znuJ6M

Tyler_ Lalonde- says:

This is ironic since you have mastro what’s his name with the “Unstoppable knife attack” in the alley remember and when I call bs you make excuses. When bs says it’s not bs to sell bs.

Max Volovich says:

So true. I spent years in Olympic freestyle wrestling for years from grads 4 to middle school and now with my job today I still use it. If I have to for defense. First verbal and if I need to last resort I go to that before I will even go to the training that was given me by the agency that I work for. I actually wish they would bring it back only because it is a good platform to help defend your self. Don't get me wrong. Come life or death I chose my life over death and I have had to chose. What I had been in is not a true fighting means and I would love to adapt and take more training with firearms and hand and edged weaponry but in Canada not possible. But my main train of thought is if you want to man on man fist to fist then ok but if you are going to not fight fair then all bets off i am going home . 2 on 1 3 or more on 1 or 2 are to me no holds barred I am going to dominate and destroy or die trying

Bill Kipp says:

The 1st to my knowledge to use the bags were Seals to create an asymmetric environment where their eye sight is taken away giving the attacker the advantage of control, and the defender has to regain control. The theory is that predators attack asymmetrically using stealth and deception to ambush their victims so the best scenarios include asymmetric attacks to defend against. Some RBSD instructors may have seen this and erroneously place the mask on the student not understanding the concept. The beauty of RBSD scenario training is it gives context to who, what, and how someone would apply whatever skillets are desired under stress. It is still a misunderstood technology and one this gentlemen IMO appears to know little about.

ifell3 says:

It's called spreading hope and praising that the sweet fine lord is going to come and rescue your soul. Whilst making a few extra bucks on the side. Surely there needs to be some gold standard for this crap, it could be someones life and it's a bit to late to then write a bad review on there shoddy DVD. I think yourself, and a few others should be on a panel type of thing and give a rating of bronze silver and gold for content.

kenkong4545 says:

I must admit that your training partner is HOT….enjoying your videos…keep it up…

Micheal Williams says:

And fred mastro self defence is real? 😂😂😂

bolo dork says:

Conor Mcgregor is teaching self defence now :O

Jerimy McCray says:

I I will say that what this guy teaches is reality base defense so if we're being fair he's being a little intellectually dishonest. But I will also be very fair and say that he teaches how to deal with the most realistic and a probable scenarios and not the Fantastical comic books scenarios. But if we're being totally honest if you're teaching practical self-defense it has to be reality-based oh, so his argument is a little silly.

Shane K says:

Anyone got a link to that joke AK fighting underwater? All I can find is some crav maga class on the beach.

Iowa Airsoft Militia says:

Growth is Discomfort..RESPECT thanx for another great vid and info.

Ron Pettit says:

Ok so a bag over your head is bad ha ha

Tracy Cramer says:

The only way one will know how they will react to a situation… is to put them IN that situation.
I don't mean attack them with a real knife, gun…etc. I mean that until the "reality" situation happens it's all theory, training, conditioning and hoping that a "reality" situation doesn't happen.
I sincerely hope y'all never have to go through any situation where your put in such a situation… but if you are, at least you're training will hopefully kick in and you will prevail.
