Gun in A … idk. I mean you can only like shoot somebody which will always cause a lasting damnage to the offender. A bit of a harsh treatment for the dude whose girlfriend you just fked and who only wanted to threaten you a bit.

I carry a gun. I'm no longer 17, putting a bokken in my shirt and pretending to be a ninja.

Jonathan Oliveros says:

The ones that Mike saw with Kali sticks sparringā€¦but hereā€™s the thing, those are rattan! Thatā€™s meant for training. Change the material. Ironwood, or even METAL, then what. Youā€™re gunna tell me itā€™s too weak? We have a saying, rattan for friends, wood for strangers, metal for enemies. Also, donā€™t underestimate wood. When wood snaps, it becomes a stabbing weapon.

Watanabe Polyglot says:

Open carry of swords is legal in Texas

And what rate for a spear?

Maria Kronwalder says:

This could have been such an interesting video, but sorry to say, you commited several fallacies that are typical for these sorts of videos: Most importantly, you did not establish solid criteria at the beginning. You talked about it, but did not establish it. And worse, you didn't even keep a consistent rating, but rated one weapon on one criteria and the next on another (you even mentioned that at same later point in the video). That renders lists as these useless.

Second issue is that you claim to have the world in mind, but you actually only look at it fom a north american standpoint. Guns tick that box heavily. Also, they are not usable in most SD situations, because they are not appropriate, and illegal in many countries.

And third, who are you talking about? You switched your target group without stating so. I assume you didn't even notice yourself. A private citicen is not a homogeneous person. That includes people of highly varying physical stature and combat skills (mostly zero), an includes all sorts of situations. Most women face violence at home from a partner or expartner. A gun is useless here, but anything to throw or grab might work.

The tactical whip might be a strong weapon, but you have to have it on you, and who does? This is totally unrealisitc. A Kubotan helps as soon as you have basic striking skills, and you can carry it around almost always. So from my point of view as a SD trainer, this list is heavily flawed.

The video is still worth watching, though, because you give interesting opinions on several weapons. And you guys are entertaining. šŸ™‚

Apparently you can carry swords and balisongs and many bladed weapons almost everywhere in Texas. I'm not a Texan but I've heard many testaments saying this is true. I've even looked it up and saw that. So Texans are good ig.

Gege547 says:

And the list of illegal things to carry here: Shuriken, Kubaton (maybe there is no precedent), Bo Staff, Kali sticks, baton, Baseball Bat (not illegal to carry but illegal to use for self defense) nunchaku, Taser, knuckles, tonfa, sword, shield (debatable but you can't explain why you have one on you), pepper spray (you can carry the useless ones), gun, tactical whip.
Few years ago empty hand training was illegal. Because if you are trained you cannot cause severe injuries (8+ days healing) only minors because you are a professional and that was excessive force and the you had to know the limits.

Dumb joke. I approve

newmerek says:

I don't agree with knife, you look at standard issue of any military combatant is going to include a knife. You know what the greatest thing before sliced bread was, a knife so you could slice your bread. It is literally the most useful thing on your list. Like you gave an umbrella extra points for being an umbrella, but you don't give extra points to a knife for being a knife. Also since you mentioned walking staff I think you should have included it, though I suppose that could be the same as the umbrella? I sort of agree with bo staff, if by self defense you mean they are already close enough that you can't take advantage of its range, but in that case I don't know how much better a sword would be in that scenario unless it was a short sword (which is a long knife).
