@bigal2024 S5 E8 Andy The Marriage Counselor (S1 E18) has almost the exact
same scene as Barney’s Uniform (S5 E8), so you may be thinking of that one
too. He shows him a few karate motions in The County Nurse (S2 E24) like
‘the rattlesnake’.
That’s the essence of Barney. He’s always making himself an expert on
things he knows nothing about. Unfortunately, that is every issue that
comes up during his waking hours.
The very BEST! Don Knotts & Andy Griffith! I watched every episode. I watch
them over and over again. Ron Howard was a great child actor. So cute I
could squeeze him! Thanks for posting.
you must be a cop. It’s a fucking TV show… Who could hate Barney fife.
I’m sure you’re one of the those short cops with the really tight uniforms.
Sorry you didn’t live up to your daddy’s ex[pectations.
@ernlay Remember, this show is set in the 1950’s and likely the idea was
fleshed out in the 1940’s, those were hardly the days when backwood
American law enforcement was renown for it’s high standards.
If he’s serious about wrestling he should be fine. A quick and solid double
leg can make a larger guy real short, real quick. TKD will just get him
hurt by giving him a false sense of security as it is quite the phony and
impractical form of “fighting”. Just encourage his wrestling, maybe some
fundamental boxing and he’ll be fine.
I was going to sign up for more classes in Krav Maga, Aikido, or mixed
martial arts, but then I heard that Barney Fife was going to be giving a
self-defense class at a local gym so I signed up immediately!
Good God. I am going through this bully/protect yourself for the third
time. My son is a freshman and an athlete. He is small for his age but very
productive in the games he plays QB/S, pitcher/catcher, wrestler. However,
ever damn two weeks he gets into it with older and bigger kids. I do not
know how to handle it.
I hear you, wojosmith. My boy is grown now, but we went through the same
thing with him. I always cautioned him to never start it up, walk away from
it if he could, but if he found himself cornered he should go for it with
all he’s got. We informed the principal that was our philosophy and we made
it through ok.
it was sooo funny…. we were at a hotel and my uncle got pulled over by a
cop and this guy is a complete cop hater and when the cop came up to the
window my uncle said, ” Well howdy barney, how r u on this mighty fine
day?”….. the cop ended up tasering him…. i swear i pissed my pants
In real life Barney would have been fired first day on the job. Would have
never been hired, actually. We all thought he was funny and still do. But,
in reality, he would have been a hated person!
@wojosmith – I would seriously think about getting him in some self defense
classes, (Karate, Ju Jit Su, Tae Kwon Do, etc). It would help his
confidence, give him some moves, and help him to not be intimidated.
Bullying IS a huge problem and needs to be dealt with.
Actually, everything Barney read and said about self defense was quite
correct, it was his technique which lacked the proper execution..
now you see why don knots won 5 emmys
Check out this video on YouTube:
is the young lad, ron howard?
Lol, Barney pushed Ope away when he went to help him to the chair. I guess
he wanted to salvage what was left of his pride!
I’ll try to go through the day without breathing,JUST FOR YOU !
i would stick to believe that the best self defense is running….=D
RUNNNNNNN!

What a great job being sheriff of Mayberry.

(chuckle) Deputy Fife is the last person one would expect to be an
authority on competence.
yeah they sound very alike (Michael Waltrip and Andy)
I think he punched him in the balls
Pause at 1:05 and look at Barney’s face ROFL!
This is from Episode 79, One-Punch Opie, from the Third Season,

Don Knotts was one of a kind!!!
