Picking the best Airgun for self defense in gun free zones.

In this video, I’ll explore using BB, Pellet, and Paintball guns loaded with pepperballs or rubber breaker-balls for self-defense. Please do your own homewor…

Defense against feral cats and rabid squirrels yes. Not a chance against a
person. The only people who think using an airgun against a person is
awesome are kids.

Max Heather says:

It says choosing a air gun for self defemse at the start lol

steven martell says:

If u can’t buy a gun legally. buy an 80% lower receiver online and then the
rest of the gun parts all other parts ar not considered a firearm 100%
legal to buy in Canada and the USA I rock a blank firearm I live in Canada
can’t carry a real gun but guns that fire blanks we can carry all u need is
a warning shot they all start running away

Raphael Cozzi says:

A great suggestion: Try the Skenco Blue Arrow pellets on your Gamo P25. You
will be amazed at the result. The ideal pellet makes all difference.
Remeber: SKENCO BLUE ARROW.

Shannon Hunter says:

In canada all air guns have to be under 500 fps.unless you have a gun
license you can own 1000 fps air guns .

huntingmachine1 says:

oh thank you!! I needed a trail gun for backpacking, and I can’t purchase a
pistol because I’m under 21 (this is a federal law, not a state law, the
state law is anyone under 21 cannot obtain a carry licence, which is
required to carry in state and national parks. Don’t even get me started on
my opinion of this. yes I’m aware of the loopholes). The trail goes from
Georgia to Maine, which also means it passes through states like New York;
and it’s also against trail rules to carry.

The Trail Conservancy as well as prep. books say your best weapon is your
hiking poles, and that a knife is too heavy to bring and will rarely be
used, bring micro scissors instead. Poles don’t scare away humans and
knives don’t scare away animals. Many hikers carry anyway, going on the
“rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6” concept, and the hikers on the
trail usually follow the “don’t ask, don’t tell” principle on carry
weapons. I don’t want to risk all future gun and licence purchasing as well
as being disallowed into the military, so I carry a knife anyways along
with a stun gun (love the intimidation and reliability over a taser(needing
to hit the target with one and only shot)) and pepper spray. But it would
be nice to have more than 6 feet of range. I have been looking at my
options for some time, and was trying to figure out if there was anything
better than a pellet pistol, apparently not [on the market]. Also, I
couldn’t find *anything* about an air pistol made for self defense, which
would likely have better seals for long periods of the gas not being used,
and was looking for which kind would be the best. Thank you for your
video, although it did not change my previous ideas, it confirmed them. I
purchased a Gamo PT-85 as a result. I needed one that didn’t have an
exposed C02 screw handle(hangs up as well as reveals it is a pellet gun),
and quick change magazine. The blowback and semi-auto pellet ability(since
nearly every model is incapable of this, only with bb’s) is for pleasure
shooting 🙂 .
(btw, bb’s have been extremely inaccurate in my experience, with groupings
consistently the size of a foot in diameter at 30 yards, and one inch with
pellets. I’ve even seen them *curve* *up* regularly when watching through a
spotter scope.)

While I and the NRA support open carry of rifles, we don’t think the Texas
open carry demonstrations are making the right impact. I’m sure you, and
hope you, are aware of this.

Ray Headrick says:

Great vid. Was the pellet gun in your hand a gamo p 85 or. P25. It looked
like the p 85. The picture is a p 25. Both are great !!! Thx

Paint Ball Arms Dealer says:

Nice e video, But I have a couple of problems with some of the info you
provided and/or shown. first would be at 5:43 where you describe the mini
breaker ball as rubber coated plastic when in fact its rubber coated glass,
then latter in the pepper ball test you refer to the same ball as a rubber
ball which is kind of a down play and will lead people to acquire less
effective rubber balls instead of the red MB43P mini breaker ball in your
video . Next would be your pepper ball test at 6:50 clearly shows a
reddish brown ghost chili powder effect, how ever at 7:03 human pepper
ball test the powder is clearly a white powder that is typical in a game
play powder ball or a cheap Pava pepper round. Then you never mention that
these same rounds can be acquired in the .68 Cal. size which carry 5 X the
powder and/or 4 X the hitting power to the .43 Cal. counter parts. Again
nice video you guys have talent, if you ever decide to do a .68 Cal test
let me know I’d be happy to provide you the ammo free of charge.

Hi great vid, I have a few questions, firstly how long would I be able to
have an air gun holstered and fully loaded with co2 and pellets for witgout
it losing its effectiveness? Like when you take an air gum out do you have
it losded ready to fire because ive never been sure how long I can store
the co2 in ot withoit losing velocity etc, also maybe in the next vid you
could see what happens if you unleashed the whole eight round mag onto the
spam? Surely it would have more of an effect than just one pellet. Cheers
great vid I really like your videos theyre the most scientific and reliable
I really appreciate the effort you put in! Cheers

Zigamafa says:

Why not just use pepperspray? You don’t have to deal with people mistaking
a replica firearm with the real thing. Also, pepperspray is more than
likely more effective. The pepperballs are cool but as demonstrated they
are ineffective. I just don’t see this as a feasible alternative to a
firearm when there are other options available. A good training tool, sure.
A method of self defense, less likely

Johnny P says:

I completely disagree when you say pellet guns are better for self-defense
than bb guns.
For example, Gamo V-3 would be much better than the P-25 you used on your
video. I can easily get readings from a V-3 between 500 and 600 fps on my
chrony F1 (on a 25+ celsius day), something the P-25 will never give me.
Plus BBs are pure hardened steel for maximum shock and tissue rupture.
Finally, last tip when self-defensing with airguns… shoot for the eyes!

Ohhh.. one more point in favor of the Gamo V3, it holds 15rounds and you
can shoot them all as fast as you can pull the trigger without havin to
flip the mag half way 🙂

One last thing, Gamo V3 holds the firing BB in place with a magnet, so you
can point it downhill without being afraid of it falling before you fire.
And airguns that use rotary mags have 1 big prob, with pellets being long
time stored in the mag, they will get loose and eventually will jam the mag
when it tries to rotate!

FlyingAxblade says:

how long ’til you noticed the brain? LOL! took me more than 11 minutes…I
was focused on that very neatly organized wall.
Too funny!

Kev50027 says:

That was pretty immature to call everyone who disagrees with you an idiot.

dante hanley says:

Ah my air gun fires 550 fps

Tom Armstrong-Mortlock says:

How you ever had to use a gun in self defense

Meren Diaeter says:

In my country it is generally forbidden to carry any type of airgun and I
also wouldn’t consider doing it but I still found this interesting.

Regarding the ammunition, wouldn’t steel BBs theoretically cause more
damage than pellets made of lead? I mean if you shoot a solid piece of
metal with a pellet it will shatter (losing energy?) and cause almost no
damage. If you shoot it with a steel BB it will cause noticeable
damage/malformation on the target and ricochet off of it without being
destroyed.
So say you had to shoot an attacker carrying a knife in the face with an
airgun, wouldn’t a steel BB cause more damage and be more likely to
convince him from slicing you than a lead pellet?

Also pellets are stored in rotary magazines which give you like 8 shots,
while handgun magazines for steel BBs may hold around 20 bullets.

Either way if you go for an airgun you should probably exchange the
canister every once in a while and give the gun some time to rest without
pressure. Maintenance the gun.

Besides what about blank guns? Would these be legal to carry in the “gun
free” zones in your state?
In my country these are the only type of handguns which civilians may carry
(after obtaining a license.)
They are very dangerous at point blank (hard contact) shots, and for
distances of a few meters there are cartridges available which will shoot
CS or pepper gas.

Anyways, the best self defense option next to a real handgun is probably
pepper spray.
Would make sure to get one with a liquid stream (jet?) or gel as these are
much less affected by wind.
With a fog spray you will probably end up spraying only yourself if the
wind is blowing in the wrong direction…

HARMARSCH2 says:

Here in Saskatchewan Canada if you get caught in public with a realistic
air gun you can be charged with carrying a gun. The cops don’t care. This
all stems from those old water pistols that looked like real guns.

Mistabeen says:

As someone who lives in a country where guns are illegal but airguns aren’t
I appreciate the video.

Would love to see a video like this more in depth to look at manufacturers
of airguns. Or if possible a video on airrifles for home defense.

Endless Weapons says:

My favorite rifle is a 1000 fps

krazor8 says:

im gonna be honest, carrying an airgun is bad, if the other guy has a real
gun ur screwed, as you know, criminals tend to ignore laws

Megan Leonhardt says:

i liked this

Noel Tavizon says:

Hey Awesomeairsoft so would a cp99 work or no for self-defence???

GoldMedalGoatNation says:

you can upgrade a wg bb gun to 650 fps with heavier bbs

Paul Blake says:

Excellent video, gave me a lot to think about, I appreciate your time! A
couple of questions, as this is the first time I have seen this type of
weapon. Is there any delay between rounds and are there any of these
available that are full automatic.

Doc Blake

Marc Barber says:

Im only interested in an air pistol because Im a felon.

stiking12 says:

in the state of ne jersey some air pellet guns over a certain muzzle
velocity are considered by the ATF a firearm. stupid i know but in jersey
you need a permit to obtain chopsticks

Tanner Hogeboom says:

If you want a pellet gun for self defend get a .22 that shoot at least 495
anything under than wont do anything but slightly hurt a person

God Son says:

Woahhh buddy big I mean BiiiiG safety hazard shooting near the electrical
outlet soo not cool lol

Bobbysrabbits13 says:
