Steve says:

Yes, I agree. Releasing the thief was the wise thing to do. That way he can perfect his technique, learn and grow from it and perhaps ambush the next car owner in front of his family and plant him in the ground. What could be more prudent, sane, sober and moral?

CornKob Mansanto says:

John: delving out lessons

Me: how in the f*** did that guy manage to do that stance for even a split second?

S W says:

Rule number one – NEVER leave your car running with the keys in it and walk away. You're just asking for someone to jump in and drive off. Heck, people jump into police cars here and drive off in them so they sure as heck aren't going to be concerned about stealing a private vehicle.

Josh Josh Spangler says:

If that happened in Brazil, I'm sure the outcome would have been very different.

Arusha Mix says:

The Kid "cool down Man…I was not going to steal your Car…do I look look like a Car thief to you?".

Zacki Inu says:

Based on what can be seen in the video, the owner of the car did not have legal justification to point his firearm at the guy who got into the car.

Robert Young says:

I worked 33 years as a LEO in Indiana and Florida. I would react to this situation in the same manner. This is a forceable felony in the State of Indiana and is considered carjacking as the driver only needs to be in the vicinity of the vehicle to be carjacking. Deadly force can be used in a forceable felony situation. It is best to stop the carjacker immediately. If the vehicle leaves the lot the felon could cause death with a motor vehicle during the get away or when law enforcement attempts to stop it. Laws are written by politicians who don't have real world experience. Sometimes you have to react with the knowledge of your education training and experience.

Alan Whitsitt says:

Gotta love living in a country where the law says to let some thief steal your car rather than draw a gun in them. We need more laws that actually protect the good hard working Americans.

Glenn Rishton says:

I am so tired of hearing something to the effect of "It's only property". How do you think that property was obtained, by sacrificing part of ones life for the sake of that property. One trades life for livelihood. Yes, there has to be a distinction between a twenty dollar crappy bicycle from Craigslist being stolen and a seventy thousand dollar Benz but both represent a sacrifice of some degree.
I am not advocating shooting someone simply for the act of trying to steal but I shed no tears if they take the asphalt temperature challenge for the effort. They want to steal move to Chicago, San Francisco, LA, NY Baltimore, Philly, they will be welcomed with open arms there.

silver1fangs says:

So what about the fact the person stealing the car only has to put it in gear and now they have a 4k pound missile… Wouldn't that be reason enough to brandish.

Goearthtour says:

That kid didn’t learn a thing! He was obviously checking the car out to see if was open for a quick grab and go. It’s easy to see he has done it before and he will do it again.

PRESIDENTIAL says:

got to HEAVILY disagree with you john, if i see you jacking my car i will most definitely already have a gun in my hand. if they out here robbing cars they can have a gun, 14 year olds walk around with guns too. idc about the law.

Henry Farthington says:

John I wish you would have mentioned that having your firearm low ready and drawn is a valid tactic in a situation. Odds are high enough that the thief is armed to warrant a low ready imho….HOWEVER… I have determined ahead of time to avoid confronting a grand theft thief unless life is at risk so personally avoiding this type of encounter is my first move. Call 911, file insurance claim sell the car move on with life (you have trained me to think this way 😻

Jeff Huntley says:

Great outcome

Scott Taxdal says:

THAT, kids, is what you call CLASS. Probably changed that kid's life. Most definitely his underwear.

Shooter McGavin says:

you don't draw your firearm over property, you draw over your life 🙄

realfun7188 says:

I’ve never heard you call a white offender a hoodlum. Please stop with the race weighted references. You know what you do.

RandyLahey54 says:

This kid is lucky to be breathing. Cars aren't cheap; and one's whole livelihood can be inside one.

Jack Here says:

No temperature test 😥

TheRotorhound says:

Should have called the police. That’s probably a $50k car. Let the court’s work it out.

Naughty Monk says:

I've watched very similar videos, and someone has jumped in a running car and drove off, and the owner has shot and in some case killed the driver/Thief and you have been fine with that. But this video you say he shouldn't have drawn his firearm????

Glynn Cordry says:

That's not a reverse car-jacking.

Car pulls up to guy standing on side walk. Driver gets out and forces pedestrian into driver's seat at gun point, then orders him to drive away. Tosses gun into open window as car leaves.

destruction of greed says:

What’s fucked up is the police will arrest you have you prosecuted convicted and put in a cage for this when they would do the exact same thing if someone jumped into their patrol car. And it all comes down to the police do not want you to have the same rights to defend yourself and your property as they do.

Maxima says:

From one thug to another

A B says:

I'm glad he didn't call the police. Now the thief can rob someone else and potentially murder someone.

Emerald Game Cave says:

Hopefully this kid saw this as a crossroads decision and choose the right path. Kudos to the man for wanting to teach the youngster.

David Carroll says:

This in my opinion to give them a chance to give up should be legal and we would have less criminals if we were tough on crime and hard on parents to teach their kids to not get themselves killed by being stupid.

Dale Kerr says:

LOL Americans and their propensity to leave their car running when they get out of it

VinnY H says:

They don’t learn, they will get better next time or they will be killed by someone else.

Mopar 45 says:

I think a lil whooping off the view of the camera would've been great! Now that would've been a real lesson.
