Bill MacKinnon says:

Using your finger on that pepper spray is not the way to go, only use your thumb, that way you will be pointing it the right way and have a much better grip on it so you don't lose it in a fight.
Bear spray is not a good option for people, you should do more research before making a video like this, or maybe you are only showing what you get paid to show but several brands are better than what you are showing here, like, DPS Black Label, Heatwave, UDAP and Fox 5.3 are all much better brands than the average or the ones you are showing here. I say all this because I'm a true believer in using pepper sprays, even though I have and like guns, I don't want to shoot anyone, the paper work will kill you after the fact and most situations you can't just shoot someone that is attacking you but you sure can spray them. Always think spray first, shooting with guns last. Everyone should have at least three sizes of spray a big one for big crowds or several bad guys, a medium size for the car and a smaller size for you pocket and never leave home without them. Hopefully you'll never need it, but if you do, you will be so glad you thought ahead, also, learn how to use them, just owning is not enough. Get some training in before you need it.

I will still use pepper spray against a gun if it's all I have and I cannot retreat, it will still blind them and God only knows where the bullets will land if they continue shooting.

How do you get the sprays? I tried to uy them on Amazon and none of them would ship to my area.

Good to have both. Pepper spray deters an attacker, won't get you accidentally shot by police, and there's no chance you're getting hit with homicide charges if you have to use it.

Truth Seeker says:

I know the byrna max kits can’t be sold in California it has tear gas. But what about pepper balls? Basically the same thing as pepper spray so are those legal in California? If not then is the byrna even worth getting if we are only allowed kinetic projectiles? With its low fps it’s not going to hit as hard. Which I don’t mind if I had pepper balls as long as they disperse properly. This is what your using to defend your life so choosing the right self defense weapon is important.

jonjonjrfrmcali says:

Excellent video but I have to respectfully disagree with you. Pepper spray is ideal for 1-on-1 self-defense but in a mob/riot situation, the Bear spray would be my choice and here's why; Those small keychain pepper sprays provide a maximum of 2-3 short bursts at best, has a pencil stream and an effective range (keyword here is effective not claimed) of 6-8 ft. Bear spray by contrast has an effective range of 30-35 feet with a spray mist similar to a fire extinguisher. Sure it's only 2% (I now keep a can of UDAP BS in my car) but it's still effective enough that one short burst can incapacitate anyone at an instant. Bear spray is also effective in that you not only stop your primary targets in their tracks, you also create a barrier of protective mist between you and other potential charging attackers. It might only last a few seconds but when your safety is jeopardized by 2 or more, that might make a difference.

Ty says:

if you are attacked 99% of the time the attacker is going to be armed with a firearm, knife, club, or will be unarmed. Your best bet here is going to a firearm or pepper spray. Knives, clubs, tasers and grappling/striking skills are ok options against a single UNARMED attacker. That being said with multiple attackers or with armed attacker(s) you need RANGE and the ability to engage several targets simultaneously.

Udon Nomi says:

Available from Amazon..only one I've seen offered..10% OC, 1% CS, 1% CN(!!!) and an UV dye. Haven't seen CN in years!! Hard to attack someone while puking and having diarrhea.

MarcosM007 says:

Great video. Thank you for your work.

JN says:

You made a comment that I hear over and over about "some people not being affected by pepper spray". I think there is an element of truth that some people in corrections or law enforcement are sprayed and they work through it to cuff someone, hold someone down, etc. My point being the average perpetrator who is going to attack a woman for an abduction or sexual assault is not going to be able to hold it together if they get a real dose of spray to the face. Maybe I should say….they will not be able to complete their mission of bad intentions.

A Spit of Mud says:

Better off just kicking them in the balls.
