Bill Blinky says:

That maybe true actually. However the benefit of karate is that you spend
so much time practicing that you seldom actually get to go anywhere that’s
likely to get you into a fight. 😉

MrPietrasantino says:

Agreed. One should use karate principles, it’s strikes, kicks and locks
from the katas and kihons but make them live for self defence in 2013.
Learn the pure as a foundation and then adapt.

CouparLad47 says:

A real attack is a melee, a mash up, untidy, can be unexpected and a bit of
a mess. I know several karate clubs/instructors in which the core training
is self defence/self protection with a realistic & practical viewpoint in
which the attacker or attackers are non-karate based. These
clubs/instructors explore & adapt bunkai to drill for a multitude of
scenarios. Also, pad/bag work is essential. Getting back to the roots prior
to the excellent technical karate shown in this video.

Kenneth Hoover says:

This was great historical stuff. Thank you!

Maybe if you had ever been in or seen a real fight you would be able to
understand what I’m saying.

bee heatwole says:

so you know what everyone is going to do when they attack ,WOW teach me
master lol

talon115 says:

The problem with karate is it teaches defenses against attacks that no one
does.

raglanheuser says:

the problem with people like you is they always tie the knot wrong when
they’re trying to hang themselves for being a useless cancer on society
