He's having a mental health crisis that involves stabbing the officers and runs away.. to do what? Why isn't this a law that we can kill someone who JUST tried to kill us? Who actually feels bad for him? Screw this moron.
Get these men the proper training and send them back out on patrol, we need all the officers who are brave enough to show up to the crazy world we live in.
I feel like that was a fine shoot. YOU CHARGED AT POLICE WITH A KNIFE. Am I supposed to care that in the midst of stabbing a police officer you turn your back or run?
Andy Griffith knew what to do. Take care of the man, petition for his humanity and help him find work. Granted, AG always treated a prisoner as a friend first. That meant giving them a meal and a place to sleep and sober up. Often times it meant repeated forgiveness on the minor offenses, but at least, the unruly people had a place to stay and were kept peaceful.
I disagree John, I think it's a good shoot. The bad guy may or may not respond to "de-escaltion" but he for sure is a danger to anyone he can reach. And as you've pointed out his reach can move damn fast. In the moment he was running away he's no threat. But what about the next moment? We see bystanders walk into the danger zone all the time. If a woman holding a baby stepped out from between cars in front of the bad guy he could have easily stabbed both before they could shoot him. "More training" isn't always the answer, sometimes you just gotta shoot 'em till they drop.
He was a well known homeless guy in the area. Wonder why he wasn't already in a mental facility or prison . In 2014 he stabbed a postal worker trying to deliver mail on a front porch. I'm sure the defense will bring that up in trial.
Not a good shoot? The officer talking did a good job engaging the suspect. However when the suspect ran at the officers with the knife the officer’s retaliated with their firearm. It’s easy to think about this in hindsight; you can’t say “ if I was there I would have done things differently”. I don’t think you’ve ever been afraid of your own life.
I may be wrong in this assessment of the host but I have defended myself in a like scenario.
I just had an interaction with the police last night and guess what. I'm here today to tell y'all about it because I have a sane sounded mind and I listen to all of John's lessons.
John, what if the suspect ran into a nearby store and grabbed a hostage at knifepoint, you have to factor in your what if scenario too, a back shot can be justified if the consequences of not shooting could lead to serious harm to the public, just my opinion but a valid point I hope
Yeah 💯 should of stopped… How did the police miss the first 3… ??? Yeah but then again if he stabbed someone in the next hour… And killed them… I hope the officer only loses his job…
John, please make a video examining the use or a taser on people wielding a knife. It rarely works and the person most likely will wined up getting killed by the cops. WHY not use bear stray on them instead of an mostly infective taser? I can't imagine someone still being able to charge at you after being doused wth bear sray
40mm would have been a better idea but I understand those aren’t always available
Dude rushes the cop then rushes a car with a civilian in it how the fuck did they get charged in this?
Put your mask on before he stabs you..
But where were the social workers? They would have solved everything, obviously.

Please tell me y'all noticed how he held that gun…

Don't they have night sticks anymore? Surely they've GOT to have something other than just a taser or a gun!
Once again, police failed because of a bad sergeant trying to go Rambo. Bad leadership.

good shoot tbh
He was running away.. not sure why kept shooting
As if the Tazer was going to be effective through that winter jacket…

HOGWASH!!! So the cop doesn't shoot him in the back and the man runs off and stabs 5 people to death. Guess who gets blamed?? THE COPS!!!!
Maybe I'm just an idiot… asking for back up with a taser? Why in the f*** would you not carry a taser
