Please thank Throom for bringing us today’s video on Officers Stop Shooter Taking Hostages! Check them out at http://get-asp.com/throom ; their FB page https://www.facebook.com/throomtargets/ has good information too. Attitude. Skills. Plan.
In Virginia when I was with the DOC Tactical Support Unit we had to qualify with 96% or better, and the regular Officer only need 70% to pass. We spent a lot of our own time and money to maintain staying above that 96%, I know it’s hard for departments to find the time and money for training but it really is a must.
I couldn’t be a police officer, there would be no deescalation when someone starts shooting id just start blasting and I wouldn’t provide no aid afterwards cause your just not worth saving at that point
Uniformed police officers have got to get away from this "drop the gun" mentality. If you are in uniform or arrive in a marked unit and it's obvious who you are and the perp still has a gun, then commands are useless. Question, we now negotiate with someone discharging and holding a gun. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!
Yeah too bad the crowd wasn't armed too, that way more people could die because the redneck with a gun thinks he knows what he's doing because hes shot his gun a few times in his backyard. No. You want citizens armed, then it needs to be regulated, and any owner should go through proper detailed training over several months. Instead the redneck can get it with a few forms, store it however he pleases, including on his bedside table where his kids shoot themselves with it.
Officer Gutierrez may have backed up a little at first to get a good picture of the scene. He then put himself in between the shooter and the civilians in order to get them to safety. I think he did a great job.
I don't understand people. He went there to die…. Traumatized at least 100 people… Kinda selfish, get help, stay away from drugs, or just end it yourself… no need for the Theatrics.

Everyone there got very lucky that his intentions weren't to hurt innocent people.
It's funny to me that they still have the S&W 5946 in NYPD circulation. Nine shots man…

Great job of that cop getting those people out of line of fire.
I love brave men like these guys.
This is the first time I have seen an officer use a hammer fired pistol. Interesting.
